Life In A Glass House Lyrics

Review The Song (13)Print the Lyrics
Once again I'm in trouble with my only friend
She is papering the window panes
She is putting on a smile
Living in a glass house

Once again packed like frozen food and battery hens
Think of all the starving millions
Don't talk politics and don't throw stones
Your royal highnesses

Well of course I'd like to sit around and chat
Well of course I'd like to stay and chew the fat
Well of course I'd like to sit around and chat
But someone's listening in

Once again we are hungry for a lynching
That's a strange mistake to make
You should turn the other cheek
Living in a glass house

Well of course I'd like to sit around and chat
Well of course I'd like to stay and chew the fat
Well of course I'd like to sit around and chat
Only only only only only only only only only only....
There's someone listening in

Great Song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/10/10

This song is a great ending to amnesiac. The brass make it sound mellow, yet when it gets to the chorus part, it sound very aggressive and meaningful. This is defiantly one of my favorite Radiohead songs. Also about creep another one of my fav songs, it is mainstream and most people listen to it for the tune not the lyrics, but most people can relate to the lyrics unlike this song which is about media and how famous people never get any privacy and always have rumors about them going on. anyway great song. I love radiohead

yup | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/10/09

there's something about how he says "you should turn the other cheek" live. Almost in a jeering or bitter tone, suggesting perhaps that the act of turning the other cheek, while the correct way to respond to aggression or media lynching, is unsatisfying and sickening.

superb as usual | Reviewer: Bikram | 11/24/09

Radiohead sucked in the beginning.Their worst days were when they were called a rock genre band. They are good at albums like Amnesiac,Kid A,Hail To The thief,OK Computer & even In Rainbows.Howeveq,Creep is bloody shit & so are most of their early songs.Their music is ALTERNATIVE & quite different. It's not rock. They are a gr8 band.Even Thom Yorke's solo album Eraser was gr8 but do hell with creep and songs like it.

WE | Reviewer: jacob | 6/21/09

I always thought that this song was about Yevgeny Zamyatin's novel WE. Other songs of thoms, especially around this time, had a lot of Orwell and Huxley influences in them, so i think its pretty logical to think that WE, which plays to the same tune as 1984 and brave new world, is in here somewhere. i always the lyrics were 'and she is paper in the window pain' , a reference to those pink slips that have to put in the windows when they have sex with each other. And that also kinda hints at the downward spiral kinda theme that radiohead reference so much. like the bastardization of sex and what not..., also, the hungry for the linching thing kinda hints at what happens at the end of the book (dont wanna say in case somebody reads it but i guess that isnt too sublte :p ), and the chorus is also like the big brother is watching me thing too. and they lived in glass houses in the book, i guess that would be the biggest reference....

hungry for a lynching. | Reviewer: radiogod | 6/11/09

A lot of Thom's lyrics are abstract, especially from this era, but I think this song definetly has something to do with the hypocrisy and fakeness which surrounds mankind these days. Just like Like Spinning Plates, also Amnesiac, I somewhat interpret this as a dig at USA. This song made me cry today.

Creep and life in a glasshouse | Reviewer: Tania | 6/6/09

My personal opinion is that creep is a great song , but anybody can't compare Pablo Honey with Amnesiac/Kid A/Hail to the thief or In rainbows.. all of these albums are masterpieces and Pablo Honey is a good album only, but in my personal opinion the worst of all..

danny stop being an arse | Reviewer: TheHIV | 10/15/08

Not gonna lie danny, pablo honey is really not that great an album, when I listen to radiohead I always skip that one, its just not them. And creep.... really doesnt stand out as a particularly good song, i actually think there are better songs on that album.

Anyway, this a great album I really like the way the trumpet has a sort of.... laxidasical sort of sound and yet..... a sort of..... quite intesity. And that claranet, (thats what it is rigth), they really back up Thom magnificently.

Don't get upset danny | Reviewer: Samwell | 9/17/08

settle down, danny. she's not attacking you. by the way, creep isn't as amazing as everyone perceived it to be. the point suzanne was making was that most times, mainstream sucks. it's usually bland, overprocessed crap that has a catchy tune that attracts the bland, idiotic mass of people inhabiting this world. you will probably agree with me that most people are pretty dumb. however, creep made its way into that mainstream because of how catchy it is. it's a pretty good song, but not as good as people let on. it's not very deep, and the main reason people loved it so much was because of the distortion.

:/ | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/6/08

suzanne has a point. not sure if I agree about creep; I honestly don't care either way. But what she said about THIS song; the one you're supposed to be talking about, is really........... true. And it goes for everyone of their songs; sometimes it's nice NOT to know the lyrics, and simply get high off of the feeling that radiohead is trying to give. Each song describes a human emotion; some of them describe the same one, but in utterly different ways that makes me want to melt.

creep is a great song | Reviewer: danny | 4/9/08

i love this song, just as much as creep
why is people so affraid of mainstream stuff?
ITS NOT one of their worst songs, at all
im so sick of it.. that "normal people" enjoy a radiohead song does NOT mean its "one of their worst songs" I love radiohead and creep might be my favourite song!, so what?? what do you know about how much i like radiohead?? progression my ass, pablo honey is just as amazing as their other records, PLUS it was their first
FUCK YOU, SUZANNE
