Skylines And Turnstiles Lyrics - My Chemical Romance
Review The Song (65)
You're not in this alone
Let me break this awkward silence
Let me go
Go on record
Be the first to say I'm sorry
Hear me out
And if you take me down
Or would you lay me out
And if the world needs something better
Let's give them one more reason
Now
Now
Now
We walk in single file
We light our rails
And punch our time
Ride escalators colder than a cell
(Come on)
This broken city sky
Like butane on my skin
Stolen from my eyes
Hello Angel
Tell me where are you
Tell me where we go from here
This broken city sky
Like butane on my skin
Stolen from my eyes
Hello Angel
Tell me where are you
Tell me where we go from here
Tell me we go from
And in this moment we can't
Close the lids
On burning eyes
Our memories blanket us with
Friends we know
Like fallout vapors
Steel corpses stretch out towards an
Ending sun
Scorched and black
It reaches in and tears your
Flesh apart
As ice cold hands rip into your heart
That's if you've still got one that's left
Inside that cave you call a chest
And after seeing what we saw
Can we still reclaim our innocence
And if the world needs something better
Let's give them one more reason now
This broken city sky
Like butane on my skin
Stolen from my eyes
Hello Angel
Tell me where are you
Tell me where we go from here
This broken city sky
Like butane on my skin
Stolen from my eyes
Hello Angel
Tell me where are you
Tell me where we go from here
Tell me we go from here
Let me break this awkward silence
Let me go

Truth. | Reviewer: Grace | 11/5/12
If you look at "i bought you my bullets, you bought me your love" Yeah, it is very dark album. Just like three cheers for sweet revenge and the black parade. However, I can notdeal with people saying in danger days they "loat" because honestly they didn't. Danger days is an angry, or even the most angriest albuim that my chemical romance have released."Not a vitcom of this victim's life".. "drop the knife and get off the ledge" Sorry, but
Remember please... And make it seem better. | Reviewer: Syra | 3/5/12
I'm missing this. This whole, era, or what say you. I mean, I know they're older now, happier and brighter, but I miss this. I'm not going to beg them to come back, they chose to go in a different direction they were already set on. Just wish the rawness was still there. Well. Love the song. :D
Miss this... | Reviewer: Jennerz | 10/23/11
My Chemical Romance is one of my favorite bands. In Life on the Murder Scene they talk about this song and how theyre out to show people there are people more messed up than we are. Comparitively, if you listen to danger days compared to three cheers and bullets, I think they lost it.
So gorgeous | Reviewer: Mynxx | 8/28/11
I am in absolute love with this song and this band. They have helped so many people... Without even knowing their impact. Seriously? They saved my life. I wouldn't eat. I wouldn't leave my room. I would sit on my bed all day writing worthless poetry and slitting my wrists. MCR inspired me to just... stop being absent. They inspired me to be something more. And they'll never know... They deserve to know...
*shakes head* sorry.. Rambling. Um. Yeah. Life saving band right here.

this line:
"That's if you've still got one that's left
Inside that cave you call a chest
And after seeing what we saw
Can we still reclaim our innocence
And if the world needs something better
Let's give them one more reason now"
really hit me.

I love how the first line in the first song that My Chemcial Romance ever wrote was "You are not in this alone" They are so inspiring.
I just love everything they've done for me and so many others.

My Chemical Romance saves lives | Reviewer: Terri | 9/13/09
My father and my brother died in the 9/11 attacks. I was seriously contemplating suicide until I heard this song. It made me cry so much, but it reminded me that I am not alone. Other people lost people during 9/11 and they know what it's like to lose loved ones to terrorism. Thank you, My Chemical Romance, for saving me from a horrible mistake.
Wow. | Reviewer: Mikey lover | 9/3/09
I'm writing a story right now, this song came on and the whole mood of the moment changed. In a good way, I wasn't born when 9/11 came, so I have no idea of what happened, all I know is a lot of buildings got bombed. I lost some people, I bet. But, this is a really good song. It wasn't the first My Chemical Romance song I heard, but I love it. MCR has inspired me to be myself, not what others want to see. So, yeah.
The best song that could hav started it all... | Reviewer: Julie | 3/27/09
I have fell in love with this song, gerard is so talented to think of this song. I was in pre k wen 9/ 11 happened n i remeba da day, i was worried bout mi dad who worked in manhatten near the towers. september 11 was a day that changed all the lives of america n it was a terrible tragity but look at all the things it lead too, including the beloved band my chemical romance. gerard inspired me so much n even though im young im gona get so far n ima do something in mi life, just like gerard. i thank god everyday for gerard...
Amazing. | Reviewer: Erin Bairstow | 1/18/09
If a band's first song can be as amazing as this, then you just know they're going to go on to bigger and better things. This is my very favourite song by My Chemical Romance, it inspired me to actually do something with my life, and with that truly awesome intro, also inspired me to learn to play the guitar. 9/11 affected us all, in some way. Whether we were old enough to understand or not. A lot of things changed after that day, some for better, some for worse. My Chemical Romance being one of the better things, going on to save people's lives, and make sure we know that there is always a reason to carry on, if Gerard could keep fighting the good fight after his grandmother died, and through all the depression, then so can the rest of the world. Long live MCR. <3
And to the person who called Gerard a sell out and a jerk, fuck you man! He is an inspiration to all of us, and whoever told you he was starting to use drugs again was probably just after some attention. Why would he start again after the time and effort it took to get off them in the first place?!
Sorry for the rant, people. I just get pissed off when someone bitches about one of my heroes.
All in all, an AMAZING song, truly.

uhhh... he was depressed because he was a drug addict and an alcholic. that's what Headfirst for Halos is about. He was working as an intern for DC or Marvel at the time the towers fell. That was what made him quit his intern ship and start MCR. Go read people, it makes your brain happy.

elena died after this was written so any depression in this song is down to 9/11, as well as gerard being a generally depressed person and any -medication- he may have been on then.
i love this song tbh.

Off of what the person below me said, yes. I agree. I can even agree with the whole third grade part because, apparently we are the same age. hah
(But a large cause of his depression was the death of his grandmother, dear) [:
I also see this song as a kind of...promise to their fans. "And if the world needs something better, let's give them one more reason."
They gave a reason to me.

ah beautiful. | Reviewer: Kat <3 Nate | 9/11/08
I love this song to death, it's my third-favorite behind Welcome To The Black Parade and Sleep. For the anniversary of 9/11 today, we watched a documentary in school, and it was truly traumatizing just to see the short abridged version of this horrible tragedy. I can't imagine how depressing this must have been for Gerard. I'm so glad he decided to write this song and start MCR. My life would be incomplete without it.
