It's a beautiful lie because the person is afraid to show himself to the world. To show his weakness and all the things that make him human. So, he is trying to keep up with the image of perfection and poise, but inside he is getting tired. Also, I think he is trying to forget who he was before. Maybe something happened or he did something wrong, that made him start hiding himself, and he found out he liked more the image he showed than who he really is, because he despises himself. If you hadn't noticed, I kind of relate to the song.
