The Reviews about Behind Me Lies Another Fallen Soldier (page 2/ 4)
------ performed by As I Lay Dying

quite right | Reviewer: Praetorianer | 6/21/09

"I thinks its about a soldier that thought he acted like a coward in battle, and one of his fellow soldiers died in combat, and he felt ashamed that he wasnt braver because he thought it was his fault that he died"

this is the most logical content I would think of. But this is what the song is made of. IT is about us every one of us in a situation like the soldier.

Or maybe in the situation of someone in thinking of jesus. it is just written this way to express haveing regrets.

This is to you psycho-babble christian's | Reviewer: benji | 5/30/09

I hate the fact that they put one line in a song
You laid down Your life when I refused to give mine

And suddenly its about Jesus. Chill the hell out and look at the other lyrics in the song please.

What would he have stolen from Jesus?
Sure, the ONE last line of the song may pertain to Jesus, but I don't see the connection in the rest of it. Lyrically, you have to look at more than one line of a song to determine the meaning.

Christian Pride | Reviewer: Boristoglobe | 5/17/09

I'm so fuckin' proud to be Christian when I listen to AILD, awesome Metal with very good lyrics, I've discovered "Christiancore" since few times and that's a really good feeling to can hear to some fuckin' good music with real lyrics !

AILD KICKS ASSES \m/ !

Awesome song, and what the lyrics mean to AILD | Reviewer: Tobias Hallberg | 5/13/09

Well, I can honestly say that I get REALLY annoyed when people say this song isn't about God, especially because they've said it themselves, that this is a "christian" song, and seriously, what do you think this means?

"You laid down Your life when I refused to give mine"

It IS about Jesus dying on the cross for us, and they HAVE said that themselves, so PLZ even if you aren't christian, accept that, and I can understand that it doesn't mean that to you, and that's okay! But for AILD this is a love song to God, not some girl. But yes, songs often has different meanings to different ppl so I can understand that, as long as you don't twist the real meaning of the lyrics and say that, for example "This is obviously about a girl he fell in love with". Plz! Tank you for reading, I hope you can understand what I mean, and honestly, we all just want to listen to some awesome music right? ;)

Ok so we can all agree it's a great song but even without the lyrics I pretty much guessed it was about Jesus and how the most we can give him is the least he deserves, and how we fail and fall short of this every time.

Chill | Reviewer: Alex | 3/30/09

So..I agree with Ali
this music is going to help you cope whether you are Christian or not.
And just because they are a christian band does not mean that every song they have is about God.
I personally don't care whether it is or isn't, its still a song that i like to listen to. and just because someone doesn't think this song has a christian message doesn't mean they are anti christian. it just means they thought about it differently. and if someone isn't christian, its their choice, don't bad mouth them. just because they don't think like you doesn't make them worse or better than you, it just means they're them, you're you.

and yes, i realize that there are going to be people who might try to bad mouth me because I'm putting an alternative thought out there. its an unfortunate reality, but that's not my problem.

o and btw, I'm not christian. so this song doesn't have a christian meaning to me :)

another good song. | Reviewer: kyle | 1/11/09

This song just like almost every AILD song is meant to be able to be interpreted in numerous ways. That is one thing that makes it art. Some artists may or may not have a particular purpose for their songs, but as a Christian band, it is almost certain the main purpose of this song is an ode to Jesus dying for our sins though we are unworthy. They aren't trying to preach and neither am I, that is just the song. It just becomes more amazing because it is framed like a soldier dying for our freedom. Figuratively and literally. Perhaps it reminds some people of warfare. Though if you aren't good as seeing deeper meanings you may be stuck on the girlfriend interpretation.

Why? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/15/08

Why the Hell do y'all want this to not be about God? They are a band made up of Christian individuals. All of there songs are about how things of this world will never satisfy and how the only true satisfaction is in Salvation. Its not a shallow love song... why would they portray a girl as an omniscient God-like figure? You stupid anti-Christian people are trying to ruin this band for Christians. AILD makes great metal music with a good and moral message that has deep Christian roots. Enough said...

wrong and right | Reviewer: ali | 11/13/08

you're all wrong and right.. this song is about whatever you want it to be.. all artists aim for with the lyrics is for them to touch someones lives and make it their own song to any situation they feel it fits.. they may have a certain meaning in their heads but all artists agree they want the fans to turn into something to help them cope with whatever they need help coping with

amazing song | Reviewer: jamie | 11/10/08

i think your all retarded ffs this song is obviously about his love for a girl but the song can be looked at in two ways the war perspective of it and the love side, its a heavy metal band there going to want there title sounding good instead off soppy :)
