If they have christian members and christian lyrics, odds are they are a christian band, not that it makes any difference if they are christian or buddhist or anything else. They are a great metal band and their songs are bad ass, including this one. I really dont think they are trying to spread the word of jesus, he is just telling how he feels through some kick ass metal.
Please, stop now... | Reviewer: Brad | 11/7/08
To the guy below me: I'm going to put this very nicely. I have nothing against anyone who's religious, regardless if Jesus is your savior, Buddha, Dolly Parton... it's all your own choice, and I'll respect you enough not to point out the stupidity of ANY religion. Now, in return... STOP ENFORCING YOUR RELIGION ON ME. I've been in situations where no one else could help me. But was Jesus there? No. He was in a fucking book. I could have just as much had Aladdin come to my aid as any of your messiahs. I won't press the truth about religion on you, and please, in return keep your beliefs to yourself. And does it really matter if this band is Christian or not? No. If they sound badass, I'll listen to them, regardless of their religious stances. Because it's THEIR choice. Not mine.
Jesus and AILD | Reviewer: Chris Hudak | 11/4/08
of course they are christians! What? I thought this was amrerica...people can't pour out and express their feelings of Jesus through melody anymore??? What has this world become..loook at the lyrics...tell me what you think! AILD is my favorite band by far and if you don't like them because you are christian then...well...if you don't believe in Jesus then I pity your soul because he has helped me in so many ways I cannot even tell you....everytime i went away from him he always took me back. from seeing demons (lterally) to seeing miracles there is no way that I would EVER deny Christ for he is in everyone whether you feel it or not. Talk to him and read the bible a little bit....when I hear this music it touches me because they all sing about life troubles and forgiveness and all that good stuff. Oh BTW did you know that most metalcore bands are christian??? Well believe it because it was on CNN and the dicovery channel and I watched both of them!!! You may not think God is cool but when you come into a very bad situation that noone can pull you out of....who will be there besides Jesus??? Just think about is all I'm saying guys
The people commenting the lyrics | Reviewer: James | 10/5/08
Why does it matter if they're a Christian band, or not? I can't believe people are actually arguing about the whole topic.
Does it really matter if they're Christian or not though? As long as you like their music, does it honestly matter?
AILD-Christians? | Reviewer: Johnny | 9/1/08
Who cares if they are christian or not?I grew up born and raised as a christian.i played in several bands,in which all the members were christians.but we did not claim to be a christian band.the clean-cut christian thing is bullshit in my opinion.religion is overrated and it really shouldnt matter what a persons faith is.AILD is an amazing band, christian or not.
They are all Christian.. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/8/08
Tim (the singer) said that he writes his lyrics about how he feels and what he struggles with. He said he often writes after a devotion etc.
"Remove from me this deception that I called love" is talking about a false love that he thought to be real. The song talks about how his heart is like a machine and he looked to the wrong things for love.
Does It Matter | Reviewer: Wayne | 7/19/08
Look I've read so many reviews for As I Lay Dying and heard some many debates of wheather their a Christian band or if their lyrics are Christian or not and i have to say does it really matter or not their are artists trying to spread music that people can relate to and everyone finds something diffrent in it ome find stories of god's grace and others just something because of their exprences so i just say to each their own no bodys opinion is right or wrong it just is music is a form of literature and everyone had their own interpretation of it
christian, indeed | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/28/08
"only through struggle have i found rest"
James 1:2-4
"Dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything."
looks similar to me, and just because their style of singing doesn't fit your mold of christianity doesn't mean it doesn't fit Gods. Christianity is a life style, not a clean cut religion.
In Psalms David talks about dancing for joy in the streets and people looking at him like he's crazy, maybe As I Lay Dying feels the same way David did. They don't care about the judgement passed on them because of how their music sounds, and they're reaching out to a different audience than most christians do.
The Topic of Them being a christian band | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/31/08
They are indeed a christian band, look at the deep meaning being "Remove from the this DECEPTION that I call love" Maybe he was betrayed by his girlfriend? And also notice, THEY DONT SWEAR IN ANY OF THEIR SONGS!!!
OMFG! | Reviewer: Teala | 5/29/08
