wow... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/5/07

okay um. c daddy... that was definitely limousine... not Jesus Christ. and seventy times seven IS a biblical reference. Jesus said in a parable that if someone apologizes to you then you should forgive them "seventy times seven" times. correct me if i'm wrong. but i don't think so.
but about THIS song.
great song :) my favorite, from any band.
i cried when jesse played it live in detroit.

Biblical reponse. | Reviewer: Glenn B | 12/5/07

hey dude, thought you may be interested. 70 times 7 is the biblical amount jesus said you should forgive people. so the song isnt but the title fits quite well with jesse being screwed over and having to forgive his friend for what he did.

Response to Biblical Assumptions | Reviewer: C daddy | 11/30/07

70 x 7 is not a biblical song at all. It's an insulting song directed towards the members of Taking BAck Sunday after the members of both these bands were fighting over a personal issue. Jesus Christ is about a young girl getting decapitated in a limo after her mothers remarriage( killed by a drunk driver). No religious references.

yes and no | Reviewer: -Jason H. | 11/28/07

although what you say is true, crack the sky is already a band, to avoid conflicting names for their song, brand new decided to stick with 'play' crack the sky. don't come across so rudely next time man, the name of the song is correct, don't work you self up about it. regardless, thanks for telling us that. i really didn't know the origin.

get it right | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/17/07

Jesse and John Noland were at a concert for a band (i forget what it was) and they had a hit song called "crack the sky".
Jesse and John were in the parking lot before the show started and the band was doing sound check and John yelled "PLAY CRACK THE SKY!"
thats where the name came from.
the end.

My review | Reviewer: John | 11/14/07

the song is about love and how love is like a ship sailing through uncharted areas, you never know what your going to get into, but you keep on going into the darkness.

Jesse wasnt very religious at the make of this cd, but i dont know if the song was made when he was still in his Your Favourite Weapon days.
(there is a song in YFW called 70 times 7, which is a biblical reference. Also they have the song Jesus Christ as well) But. i highly doubt this song is about religion.

rogue waves | Reviewer: -Jason H. | 11/4/07

Literally, i think what he's really talking about on 'they call them rogues, they travel fast and alone,' is a rogue wave. one-hundred foot faces, God's good ocean gone wrong. rogue waves happen randomly in the ocean, they're giant waves, usually around a hundred feet high. if anyone has seen poseidon, you'll know what i'm talking about. these can completely capsize a boat, the weight and power of tons of water crashing directly into it, the can even level a cruise ship. but that's only the literal meaning behind rogue waves. you can get whatever you will from these lyrics. alot of brand new's songs have double meanings. this one is so controversial, that i doubt we'll ever get the real reason behind it. i really like this song

before this song | Reviewer: Jessica M | 10/29/07

This is for the person that didn't know what song Jesse's been playing before Play Crack The Sky in his live performances...

The song is Untitled 01, and it was released as a leaked demo.

i always knew there was something of a feud between the bands, but until you expanded upon what i knew by saying that, i haven't really researched it. here's the story, or what i've found:

Lead singer Jesse Lacey had been best friends with then Taking Back Sunday guitarist/singer John Nolan (who has left the band) since grade school. Jesse's girlfriend cheated on him with John. John called Jesse, and the last words that Jesse spoke to him were, "You're as subtle as a brick on the small of my back so lets end this call and end this conversation" and hung up. That was the last time they spoke and then years later Brand New added it as lyrics to their song "Seventy Times 7" which is about what happened and his feelings toward Nolan. Taking Back Sunday then came out with the song "There's No 'I' In Team," which expresses John's side of the story. In "There's No 'I' In Team," he says, "What I can't regret, can't you just forget it?" which shows how he wants to get past was happened between them. if this is indeed another song about this bitter bond between him and John, i think i'm right.
still love this song, thanks for the comment Grant.
