I'm in the US Army Infantry and my job description doesn't call for love. I spent 15 months in Iraq and combat and chaos was a regular occurance. Showing respect and love for the same people trying to kill you is probably the most challenging thing I've ever had to do. I remeber at one time I said to myself " forget loving these people, they are trying to kill us!!!" But then I thought back about Christ, my Lord and Savior being beaten and murdered, and yet still compassion and love were the only things flowing from his face, and it hit me hard! Id say almost all of western society knows the story of the gospel (they only have to turn on the tele at Christmas time) but they don't see the 'proof' that God is working. I believe Jesus commisioned his church to continue his work... so if we reached out to our society and loved like He did, wouldnt people would see a difference!!! It's the second Casting Crowns song that he's requested to be sung before his message. It is a credit to a songwriter that his lyrics are so powerful that they can be used as a prelude to a sermon. I got short notice on this and I also suffer from stage fright, not to mention having "senior moments"! I can't remember lyrics like I used to. Well, long story short - I somehow messed up on the timing/entrance to the last sets of the chorus, had to stop and wait to get in at the right place in the music, had some "life flashing before my eyes" moments, and somehow managed to finish. I just about cried when I got back to my seat! I had never messed up so badly! I felt I had let the Pastor down. However, I got more comments from the content of this song than most that I have done. I didn't mess up on the verses where the hard-hitting scenes take place. I was again reminded that God really doesn't need us to do what he wants to accomplish! He always works in spite of us! And don't forget dat is not about religion is about how much u love god and follow his word. We should be thankful to him everyday that he gives us life and that he protects us from harm in anyway a man can't. In 1 Peter 2:9 it says that we are chosen generation and we should not be sitting down wasting our time, is time for the true people of christ to stand up and get out into the world and preach the word of God to those people dat don't have God in their hearts.
