the meaning | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/20/09

just because someone can make a christian song or right something that can be inturpreted as christian doesnt make them a christian band. and none of us no what the song really means unless we've asked. and christians are singled out. the group may be a large group, but we are still made fun of. so lets not argue

either way | Reviewer: AnonymousCross | 7/20/09

Arguing isn't going to help any of you guys. It can be seen as either a Christian song or a non Christian song. It all depends on how you see it through your eyes. Neither parties are going to convince the other whether it is or not so don't argue about it. It's immature and stupid. Just read it how you think it is supposed to be read and deal.

This is not a Christian song... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/8/09

Says drummer Sam, "Our faith is still extremely important to us, but it's also very personal. None of us feels being a rock band on stage should be a pedestal for preaching."

Obviously, they do not write songs to preach. Maybe they are religious but they are NOT Christian music. This is an anger anthem, meant to portray the raw emotion of anger and rage when someone is provoked time and time again, and pushed to their breaking point, to the point where violence is not unheard of. Chevelle are an amazing band and they are also an angry band, and these are some of the best lyrics they have that deal with lashing out in a vengeful fury.

Wow. | Reviewer: Keegan | 7/7/09

This is not a Christian band...and the fact that you say Christians are singled out is appauling. Your guys are...especially in the U.S..a disgusting majority. I dont know where you live..but that my friend is a joke.

hey | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/4/09

If anyone would like to watch the video it tells a lot about the bands interpretations of the song, i love how people create there own and thats what make music beautiful. I think their way of saying it is a person has some kind of anger issues and when you see red again your mind goes blank and you can't control yourself, the guy comes out of it and realizes that he physically and mentally hurt someone.

!!!chevelle are christians!!! | Reviewer: jonathon | 5/8/09

to those who are without the Lord Jesus Christ.....chevelle's the red is about giving in to temptation being a disease that overtakes you as does all decay of sin......"they say freak when you're singled out....."wake up call to those outside the know, we christians ARE "singled out" and called "freak" for a just cause...we are social outcasts, not like the rest the world and it's quite sad but true...Jesus said He was hated and persecuted and that we should expect as much....."the threat IS real...."and laying down is a humble act of obedience to God when we are angry....Ephesians 4:26 says to "be angry but sin not, "to lay down" because "the treat is real" to sin when angry.....

The red | Reviewer: lauren | 11/9/07

the red is about anger issues
the line:
They say freak,
When you're singled out,
The red, well it filters through.
means that people call you a freak when you get singled out in front of people and the red signifies the anger building up.
the chorus means that when he does get angry, its not very smart to be around him.
the lines:
This change, he won't contain,
Slip away, to clear your mind.
When asked, who made it show,
The truth, he gives in to most.
means that he can't contain hiself after his anger is released. he slips away and his mind goes blank and when they asked what caused he says that many things (people) make him give in

The Red | Reviewer: Lauren | 11/8/07

The red is about anger issues. the 'red' symbolizes how you see things when you become angry to the point of hurting someone. not that you really see the colour red, but saying that you see things in a different light. the line:
They say freak,
When you're singled out,
The red, well it filters through.
is saying that when you are singled out due to a small thing, people will call you a freak and the anger build up. The chorus:
So lay down, the threat is real,
When his sight goes red again.
Seeing red again,
Seeing red again.
means that there is a real threat to be around him when he gets angry.

thnx!
