The Reviews about Telegraph Road (page 1/1)
------ performed by Dire Straits

My favorite song | Reviewer: Chuck Wolny | 10/26/09

This is in my opinion is the best rock song ever. It is like a rock symphony the guitar, the key boards, the lyrics, the percussion, it is a masterpiece! The Michelangelo did it in the "Pieta". Church's "Niagra Falls" does it in a painting awesome totally awesome. I have been listening to rock for 45 years nothing moves me like this song.

Not just auto jobs... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/28/08

"Michigan is in an economic depression now because of the automotive industry among other things and the verses about unemployment describe this perfectly, even though Dire Straits wrote this years before. hmm..."

That's because he's singing about the race riots. Anyone who had the means left.

I have sooo much love for this song. It's melodic invention, especially the piano solo speaks to me in such a way that very few songs have ever. It just captures a certain essence devoid platitudes and frivoulous nonchalance. Its a song that allows one to discover love in even the darkest of spaces!!!

And it kept it all ! | Reviewer: G.T | 7/18/08

I had the luck to listen to this one, late at night... Not kidding, it was during Mark Knopfler playing "solo" (eer that means without Dire Straits, but with some great musicians too) on April this year. The song is still as strong as it was at the time it was released.
It was a great live too, no matter what some reviewers wrote in the papers.

Awesome | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/6/07

Probably my best song ever. Period.
The lyrics, instrumentals and passion within this song are truely mind blowing and it is impossible to tire from listening to it.
In my opinion, Dire Straits' best song and it deserves to be as popular as money for nothing and romeo and juliet.
My best part is first 2 minutes, the opening with the beautiful piano work mixed with the haunting sound of silence, perhaps representing the potential industrial boom waiting to happen.
Excellent.

This is an awesome song- one of my all time favorites. It takes you through a story using both the music and the lyrics. It has several musical parts that all have a sort of similar theme (two chords in particular kept appearing throughout the song, I noticed). Plus, it's also a very timely song for the state of Michigan (where Telegraph Road is). Michigan is in an economic depression now because of the automotive industry among other things and the verses about unemployment describe this perfectly, even though Dire Straits wrote this years before. hmm...
