Song of Metaphors | Reviewer: Chara | 11/14/08
People seem to grasp most of the religious aspect of the song excpet the very important yet confusing part where she says she was born underwater with three dollars and six dimes. Born under water: in christianity, one can be water baptized which makes one a new being or born again. Erykah Badu sings about her 360 degree turn-around or being born again. Erykah Badu is an extraordinary artist with a very erudite way of expressing herself.
ERYKAH BADU IS A WITCH, YOU KNEW THAT | Reviewer: Mickey | 10/24/08
This woman Erykak Badu this so called Goddess as she wants to be called by the Hip Hop World is into Astral Projection or Soul Traveling, it is an old Occult practice where you meditate (yoga, new age movement) and after a few miniutes the body and the spirit seperate. The spirit if free to travel, as the physical body stays in like a trance, sleeping format and do whatever it wants in the astral plane (people of God call it the spiritual realm) This is still being practiced by Witches, Warlocks, Satanist and even teenagers today in our Western World. Sound scary, keep on reading baby!!!!
This is a forbidden practice by God, God warns us to stay away from these practices because Satan could take advantage and it may cause mental and emotional problems in individuals that practice it. It also opens them up to strong demonic power, depending on what door was opened depends on how often the practitioner (Erykah Badu) does it. It's like a bad LSD trip that won't stop, it goes on and on. Considering that she does channeling which any FOOL can hear through her music, black magic and chantings which begans to release DEMONIC POWER TO ALL LISTENERS and this is called Seducing Spirits.
Ever listen to a Erykah Badu record CD and you have no freaking idea what she is saying or talking about but something tells you to KEEP lsitening to it, then after a while the very song you hated, all of a sudden you LOVE it??? Those are subliminal messages and they are bound through demonic forces/power. In exchanged Erykah gets reconition and fame and her career gets advanced.
Once in the astral realm (you can manipulate, people throughs dreams, thoughts, wills and motives.)
This sounds exciting does it not? But believe you me there is a price to pay. The person(Erykah Badu) that does this if they want to stop, this demonic force that they allowed in through meditation becomes a slave master like a puppet on a string. Some people commit suicide, some hear voices or they even see manifestation in their waking life.
Witchcraft is REAL, I am not here to promote it but to expose it. They are teaching little kids how to do this as young as 5 and six. You can not dabble in the occult and expect not to suffer because of it. If you are mad I wrote this get a little bit more mad, guess where are of this is coming from???
YOGA YOGA YOGA YOGA YOGA YOGA YOGA YOGA YOGA YOGA
Yes, it is just not breathing techniques or exercise ask Erykah Badu that. Each breathing exercise is summoning a demon(real demons)People before you do something you need to check out WHERE it came from, who is speaking into YOUR life, words have powers yes they do. If there is something on a CD and you do not know the meaning then you need to FIND out what it means. If you are a praticing YOGA then I advise you to stop

Its funny how self centered and closed minded so called Christians are. Leave Erykah alone, she's free a free person. That's more than what Christians can say. Freedom is not just a physical thing, but its mental, its emotional, its spiritual. Every other religion or belief system represented in the discussion is open minded except for the Christian perspective. "let he who is without sin cast the first stone."... I hate it when people give a judegemental opinion and then say, I'm not gon judge only god can do that... LOL
If you want to continue to believe and pray to a mystery god, go ahead... In the meantime I will use the power of God that is within myself to control my life. Please research the history of the religion you claim, from a different perspective. What people don't realize is that the bible is not complte, there are books missing, and it has been interpreted to many times... we all know how different interpretations can change the true message. Not to mention that Christianity as practised by Blacks in America was taught by our slave owners... LOL...! You may be free physically, but they taught you how to interpret the bible and it was passed down to you. DOn't let your preacher tell you what to believe in, or your family tradition. Discover life for yourself, and choose whatever belief you most identify with....
If u don't agree with her lyrics, don't listen... Go listen to the so called Christians, who thank Jesus for their grammy's for songs thats calling girls bitches and hoes... and teaching our young black men to murder and sell drugs...
Don't listen to a song thats empowering people to see the God in themselves, instead of praying to a white jesus...
great | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/24/08
no one seems to be offended by her sayin, "Most intellects do not Believe in God But they fear us just the same". please tell me why? lol
Also,"The mothership can't save you So yo ass is gon' get left". If these 2 lines aren't slighty imposing that 5%, or a religion in general, is the answer to everything, then i dont know what is. Sorry, we all believe what we want but the message here is very subliminal people. This song is awesome though. One of the most well written songs I have ever seen!
a history lesson | Reviewer: bejjinks | 7/9/08
B DUb said, "Your beloved Kings James Bible dates back to 4000 BC"
How can the King James Bible date back that far when King James himself lived only a few centuries ago?
Let's not argue about which came first: Christianity or African royalty. Both have long histories and neither speaks against each other. I don't apologize because I'm not guilty but I do feel saddened that such a vocal and racist perversion of Christianity is stirring up so much trouble here. Those who truly study their Bibles know that the Bible is full of Africans and it is highly probable that many of the saints had African ancestry.
It's possible that this particular song and that Erykah Badu have some Sufist or other beliefs. But it is not anti-Christian. Ms. Badu is merely being honest about what she believes and even if some of her beliefs may be wrong, she is not beating people over the head trying to convert them.
And some of her beliefs are right (not all but some). I absolutely do not believe that she is saying "call us God." I believe that her line is 100% like saying, "If we were made in his image than call us William, or Susan, or Germaine." I believe 100% that this whole line is not blasphemy but merely, as others have stated, quit calling people derogatory terms. We have names because we are in God's image, not because we are God's. Can you at least give us the respect to call us by our human names instead of by some epithet.
I am a Christian. I do have a little trouble with this song and it's reference to Ja'Born and the use of the f-word. But I respect Ms. Badu for being honest and I do not believe that she is conspiring to corrupt the youth. She is just stating what she believes and where she is coming from.
Erykah Badu's on and on Is a Brilliant and Beautiful - A TRUE GEM | Reviewer: gia | 5/12/08
I just adore Eryka Badu - Her songs like herself, are nothing short of Beautiful and Genius. as far as these exquisite lyrics, when she says "my chiper keeps movin' like a rollin' stone - she is refering to any inner emptyness (an arabic word) which may be linked to budhism- and 3 dollars and 60 - i belive means a complete turn around 360 degrees - in any case This is a Top Favorite song of all time for me - it's musically a joy to listen to, the beat is so distinctive - the tone of the song, is a calm feal good sound, with lyrics that realy make one think, and open eyes to the lucky one's that actually look up the lyrics, i'm sure this song has enlightened many ----- Erykahs so Bad A*s

Well | Reviewer: TweetSoSweet | 4/15/08
Some of you guys are getting hung up on one apart of the song there are many other part to the song to make me believe its song for black activist...for example when she says..."Peace & blessins' manifest With every lesson learned
If yo knowledge were yo wealth Then it would be well earned"... what i take from it she is saying that as blacks we should be well educated....and if all we had was to learn and be in school we deserved it..also she says.. "the world keeps burning..." she maybe talking about the destruction of our people black on black violence....in some sense yes she probably is a 5% but you can pull different from the song...so what when she said that she was born underwater with 3 dollars and 6 dimes i believe she was saying she was born perfect because she is an image of god.....yes i kno no person is perfect thats why she says her cipher keep rolling like a rolling stone..because as and African American woman she wants to reach new heights and achieve something get as close to perfect as she can.....in what ever case its a beautifully written song and like i said before you can pull different things from the song instead of one part...yes she said...if we were made in his image then call us by our names..." if you do some research our generation of black were the favored and more blessed generation we are called the generation of HAM i am sure your pastor will tell you all about it anyhow it maybe referring to us being children of god. call us by our names the children of god...... people get there our interpretation of the song and like i said so what if she is a 5% she song is a powerful song...plus if you are a so called Christian and saved why are you so quick to judge a song that you shouldn't be listening to anyway...did or didn't the bible say that we all fall short...let the first man who is with out sin cast the first stone....if you don't agree with the song got listen to Kirk Franklin and Fred Hammond....i am a christian but i am getting something way different its all in the way you pull a song apart i don't believe its anti-Christian in anyway but everyone is entitled to there opinion
Stone-casters | Reviewer: FakeEye | 4/13/08
Erykah makes really good, soul-lifting music- and that's it.
5-percent, Hindu, Christian, moslem, Buddhist; y'all can believe whatever you wanna, as long as you ACT RIGHT towards your fellow man and do your bit to improve the part of Creation you've found yourself in; everything else is mere empty doctrine and creed.
Bible,Quran, Torah, Mathematics...if it teaches you to LOVE your God and your neighbour, then it's all good. To all y'all Righteous sinless stone-casting preachers, I suspect the end is gonna be really really different from what you've cooked up for yourselves...
Think about it | Reviewer: smiley | 3/4/08
The meaning to these lyrics is very strong & is a good way of getting the message out there to our people.
' 3 dollars and 6 dimes' relates to our degree of intellect as black people - we are born with 180 deg. agreeable and 180 deg disagreeable, it is up to us to revert the 180 disagreeable to a full 360 degrees of agreeable.
We as black people are gods, there is no doubt about it.
I was raised as a christian but had too many doubts about christianity, I do beleive in a divine entity but not as it is written in a book of falacies they call the bible.
We base christianity on a man who was not even a christian himself but a Jew at a time that was many eras after our egyptian ancestors!!
-makes you think, doesn't it?!
