During the time that the song was originally written (by Lightin Hopkins), many bluesmen had a reputation for chasing younger woman. Muddy Waters, for instance, though performed the song decades after it was originally written was known to have had several girlfriends as young as 15. Even when Pigpen performed the song he would often end song exclaiming "I dont care if your only 13 years of age" sometimes he would say 15 or 17.
