What This Song Made Me Think About | Reviewer: Clayton Smith | 5/16/09
I don't know if Luke The Drifter, Jr is an alias Hank Jr uses, but today, 05/15/2009 I heard this song for the first time on internet radio with the title of Custody and artist of Luke The Drifter, Jr. As I listened to this song, it made me realize how true it is when there's children involved in a divorce, and yes the children are the ones who suffer the most, even though, sometimes neither parent want to admit it. All too often the children are pulled every which way in custody battles and even sometimes are led to believe they're to blame. All in all, I believe every parent with children contemplating divorce should be first required to listen to this song, because it might wake them up to what they're putting their children through. I've read articles about divorce and custody, seen movies about them and have had close friends and relatives in similar situations, either as the child or the parent. I've been through a divorce, but had no children involved, so some people may say, "What does he know?" Well, I've worked with children in church, and also spent time with my nieces and nephews to know that children can't hide things like adults usually can, therefore you can see the hurt. Sometimes, you can see, in the way they act, how subconsciously even adults reveal things that usually happened to them when they were children, even though they wouldn't admit it if you asked them. It's like the Bible says, "The sins of the father are passed on to the son." Children learn an awful lot by example. I find myself being reminded everyday how much I'm like my father. Anyway, I thought this song was a great song and I would listen to it a lot if I had it, and as soon as I can find it I'll buy it.
