The Reviews about Hide And Seek (page 21/ 85)
------ performed by Imogen Heap

Hide and seek meaning | Reviewer: some random. | 4/15/08

well, along with many others who have posted their thoughts, I think this song is about a husband/father having an affair on his wife.
The 'where are we? what the hell is going on?' is in reference to the husband telling his wife about the affair, and she is asking where they are in their relationship.
"hide and seek. trains and sweing machines. they were here first.' They all came before this other woman did.
'oily marks appear on walls where pleasure moments hung before' is the pictures of the family from the walls which have been removed.

'Mmmm whacha say, that you only meant well?'
he only meant well by telling her about the affair, and breaking it off.

'that it's just what we need, you decided this
whacha say? Mmmm what did she say?' is basically the wife saying that he decided to have the affair and a break is what they need. And then its pretty much saying what did the other woman say??

and yea, well thats pretty much my thoughts. But i love this song!! the emotion and feeling in the lyrics and the way it is sung. Its amazing!

History | Reviewer: Britany | 4/14/08

I believe the song refers to history. Two events come to my mind. The Jews during the Holocaust, and Japanese who were interned during WWII. It's about the evil of man, and what each group endured when they were forced to leave all they knew and called home. They did nothing wrong.

i think the song is about change but possibly more specificaly the moment you realise you really have become a women, not because you've turned 18 or 21 but because your yourself and thats where the relationship comes in, shes defining herself against negative forces in her life if they come from her family or from society. this song is sad and beautiful and captures simply the confusing of being.

Shock Shock Me | Reviewer: eumir | 4/11/08

perhaps this song depicts about a young love who's relationship has gone awry. a little regret for the other person regarding the decision of changing the things the they had been accucstomed already (referring when she sing's the part" rub my eyes, this can't be happening")

a sad song full of emotions- when i first heard of it, i broke down into tears as i have felt all the feelings involved not just in the lyric but with the arrangement of the music as well.

How about a forclosure of a hobby shot | Reviewer: Gary | 4/14/08

Maybe she's talking to a loan officer who is saying if you just pay up you can get your shop back. meanwhile everythings been taken away and she's staring around in the empty shop and people walk past saying "oh my it's gone out of business".

this might help | Reviewer: vnorkus | 4/9/08

I agree a lot with people about it being about change. But thats not just it. To me, its about the way life moves forward constantly while people are stuck thinking about the past, in the present. Today, I was dancing to it in the studio and I came across myself dancing out my past relationships and how they are still with me. But somehow, I couldnt stop moving away from them. In other words, even though I had those feelings they will always be apart of me, but life will keep moving and changing. I dont know if I'm making any sense to whoever is reading this, but all in all, I think its about being and how no matter how much we change and life changes, we will still be ourselves in the end and that no part of our lives should be looked at as wasted.

Whatever it is to you | Reviewer: Lucy | 4/7/08

I think the beauty about this song is that you can take it how you like, and interpret it into what you think it is about and how it reflects your day to day problems. It makes you really think about things for awhile, and this is one of those songs which I will never tire of.

Hide your fear | Reviewer: Sharni | 4/6/08

i belive its about a relationship and i mean any relationship i.e. family or boyfriend ect. But she doesnt know which way they are going, I mean are they going towards the future or the past such as when she says "Trains and sewing machines, all those years 'they were here first'." She is describing how all the changes in the world have changed us on who we are and what we want to be. She is talking about how shes not moving forward or moving backwards but staying in same spot this is when she says "Where are we, what the hell is going on, the dust has only just begun to fall, crop circles in the carpet, sinking feeling." When she talks about the dust shes trying to say well im not moving and when she says "busy streets are mess with people" she talks about how the world changed from sewing machines and trains to these anonmous people. Shes talking about change and what we are creating for the near future. But when she talks about hide and seek she talks about living in fear for many years this is one thing i don't understand?

Divorce | Reviewer: Kristy | 4/2/08

Its about the divore between parents, and the view of it through a childs eyes. "Crop circles in the carpet" meant by the furniture moving and leaving crop circles. "Oily marks appear on walls
where pleasure moments hung before the takeover" is about taking the family photographs off the walls. "Hide and Seek, Trains, and Sewing Machines" meaning she played hide and seek while her dad played with trains and mom with sewing machines.

Emotions. | Reviewer: Mallory | 4/2/08

I dont want to publish my thoughts of what the lyrics mean. But the way it makes me feel... it's like, mixed emotions. Its beautiful. I never really heard anything more amazing. I fell in love with the band. Imogen Heap is fantastic. <3
