The Reviews about Hide And Seek (page 20/ 85)

Well I think this song can have no meaning or it might mean an affair, I was reminded of World War 2, and even Iraq a little. But it all depends on how you can interperate it. Heap might not even know what exactly the song stands for. She could have just wrote she felt at that time. The thing is if it means alot to other people its a very good song.

This song is amazin
And the meaning is of course about an affair.
It's quite simple Oily marks on the wall.. = pictures after taken down ..
Trains Sewing Machines = Toys of children... trians for boy sewing machines for girl
And it mentions "she" at the end of MMmm whatcha say part.

Of course the sad melody will remind us of the war in iraq and 9/11 but thats just because of our generation and what we apply the sadness to.

This song is amazingly touching and just hearing it makes me wanna like cry. The Song is very helpful to sad and hurtful moments my favorite part is Mm wacha say.. till the end. The Music and lyrics of this song are also unbelieveable.
Searching for Meaning --- Hide and Seek | Reviewer: Mandrake Strangelove | 5/24/08
I've read through this page and seen the ruminating speculations as to the songs true meaning. What I feel obligated to say is that perhaps there is no true meaning. Even if Imogen Heap did have a specific event in mind when writing the song, I believe that we are better off not knowing what that event was because it would diminish the ambiguous mystique that makes the song what it is.
With all that being said, Hide and Seek is one of few modern songs. It can completely change one's mood and make the listener ruminate over the songs perfection, a distinct quality rarely found in today's generation of record-label pawns and rappers that glorify the rape and murder of innocents.

i personally relate to this song as being about derealization/depersonalization disorder having it myself its spot on in expressing the feelings of having this disorder. it would be cool to find some sort of evidence or interview or something of her having it, but i agree with alot of you with the relationship family breakup scenario but its perfect for me the way i interpret it and its just a beautiful song and just thanks to the artist. songs are the best when you can relate emotionally and this one is certainly beautiful enough for anyone to take something from it
i love this song | Reviewer: Maddy | 5/22/08
AHH i can't describe how amazing this song is. What i do know is that it has got me through some tough times- it's the perfect song for contemplation...
Really interesting to see how one song has affected so many people
This song is about ... | Reviewer: KayGee | 5/18/08
...what can be done with a good composition, one great singer and the right use of electronics (I'm not sure but I guess it's done with Helicon Voice Works). Modern acapella, great stuff. As for the lyrics and what they mean ... I would love this song as much (who knows, possibly more) if it was with just ooh's and aah's ....
This song will not leave my head | Reviewer: Ryan | 4/24/08
I happen to be going through a very emotional time at the moment, so my attachment to the mood and lyrics of this song may well be something psychological. But from the first time I heard it (on the SNL spoof)I knew I had to know more about the song and the singer. Actually, my coworker got to it first and had it playing in her car one day. I heard the whole song and from then on I have played nothing but that song. For 3 days now and I see no end in sight! To me, right now, this song is all about someone going through any kind of situation where someone else is making decisions that effect you and/or people close to you and being powerless to stop it. I feel every word as if it is straight from my soul. I know that once my crisis is over, I may forget how this song was medicine to me in a time of deep fear and sadness, but then again... maybe I won't. I would like to take this opportunity to thank God for allowing some people to put into words and music how it feels to be victimized by the "untouchables" of our society.

A flurry of emotions. Isn't that what we all feel when we listen to this song? It's amazing. I listen to it with my eyes closed and I feel like crying. The inspiration of the song may be unclear, but I agree with some of you on your points.
Hide and seek meaning | Reviewer: some random. | 4/15/08
well, along with many others who have posted their thoughts, I think this song is about a husband/father having an affair on his wife.
The 'where are we? what the hell is going on?' is in reference to the husband telling his wife about the affair, and she is asking where they are in their relationship.
"hide and seek. trains and sweing machines. they were here first.' They all came before this other woman did.
'oily marks appear on walls where pleasure moments hung before' is the pictures of the family from the walls which have been removed.
'Mmmm whacha say, that you only meant well?'
he only meant well by telling her about the affair, and breaking it off.
'that it's just what we need, you decided this
whacha say? Mmmm what did she say?' is basically the wife saying that he decided to have the affair and a break is what they need. And then its pretty much saying what did the other woman say??
and yea, well thats pretty much my thoughts. But i love this song!! the emotion and feeling in the lyrics and the way it is sung. Its amazing!
