I think this song means to remind us about friendship especially if we have best friends. This song makes us realize about how priceless they are. They always look after us and support us to be a better person.

Everyones reviews of the song makes me love it so much more. You can tell how deep this song is and how you can inflict it into everyday life or a relationship, death, and as a wedding song (quiet clever really, never thought of that not a bad idea im far to young though) Brandon boyds voice, the lyrics, the melody it has to be one of the greatest songs ever. it will always remain my favourite song.

I once had a friend sing this song to me while watching it late one night. I had never heard the song, or seen the video. But once she sang the lyrics, and related them back to herself and her experiences... I was truly touched. To this day I still love this song and will always think of her when I here it. We have had a falling out for a while now, but somehow I can't stop thinking of her. I think this was a defining moment between us that could mean something on such a level that I cannot explain. She is an amazing person, which I hope to somehow get back into her life. This song means so much to me...

This song is saying that we sometimes change into another person, almost as if we have a split personality and we all need that one person we knows us inside and out, and reminds us of who we were before we changed. That one person who will always be there, no matter what. This song is absolutely amazing. I listen to it every day.

To me this song is about how we lose ourselfs if someone touches our weak point,thus we need someone who really knows,forgives and helps us.

Our personality and the positive sides of it stay the same, even if we "turn into another", saying and doing things we actually aren't comitted to, because we got hurt (we all have a weakness, we all have a sickness).
It's about the other one to recognise this weakness ("identify,look me in the eye") and to know that it has nothing to do with "the better part" of a person, which is at this moment only "covered".
So the adressee has to "act as a clever medicine", to help the speaker out of the crisis, when sickness "turns up" his ego, by first remembering "the me from yesterday" and then to turn him back into what he used to be and what is lovely and special about this person. Or if that proves to be difficult, just to be a friend and to say "I am there for you, I am your friend, even if you have weaknesses and make mistakes, because that's human"
That is the gist of friendship and love:

I think that we can be able to think about our ex-girlfriend or our friends, but to me, the song is about our self. How we all have a weakness or a sickness or a problem and we run to someone and we feel like someone is taking care of us, but actually we take care of our self all the time, it is just that we do not realize that. That is why, when we feel bad about something we run or closed our heart doors but this song represent the fact that "we have someone that digs at us and at least we dig each other" but you can dig up your self up and that is the important thing.

To me, this song explains how far we go with our beloved persons... Just amazing and full of love. incubus forever

P.D: I saw incubus live here in venezuela.. They were just amazing.. i couldnt believe the concert was over when they finished playing dig.. (or i was too high?) Can't tell.. Anyway YOU HAVE TO SEE THEM LIVE!

I gain more meaning from this song every time I listen to it. It kind of describes my life: sometimes I turn into someone that even I can't recognize and I need a true friend to set me straight.

this is going to be my wedding song, it is so amazing and is the perfect why to describe the way someone feels for another person. you can tell when they wrote this song they were really talking about someone they truely cared about.

This song is a masterpiece! Everything about it is beautiful. I especially like the guitar solo. It's so soothing to unwind to after a difficult day. Incubus are an amazing band. They have written some of the greatest songs ever and this song illustrates everything you need a partner to be. I love it!! Long live Incubus!

jeez. im not tryin to sounds like some emo to0l but ive had a pretty tough life. i hung with the wrong people and they where never there for me when i needed them. my father never showed interest in me, kickin me out at age 15. my mom didnt have money to take care of me. so i had to live with my brother. then he introduced me to incubus.... with all the depression i had to go thru its pretty easy 4 me 2 say that incubus saved my life. they show sooo much feeling,and appreaciation towards life. there amazing musicians and liyrisist. i meen i cant relate this song to friends and girlfriends cuz i really never had any true ones, but this song is so beutiful it makes me cry everytime i hear it. so wut i want to say is music can bring happyness 2 everyone no matter who u r or wut youve done in life. and incubus saved me and dug me up from wut is covering the better part of me. and srry 4 the spelling i never graduated high school..o well:)

It reminds me of my ex. We broke up a long time ago. While we were together she always kept me on track, she made sure I didn't become someone I didnt want to be. I always thought it would be jus me and her....... This song is the best!!!!!

I reviewed this earlier and stated how this was the song my boyfriend picked for us. Well he is now my ex and even though i still love him with all my heart we are now just friends. I realize though... That this song is not just a song for lovers its also a song for friends which means a lot because i can still think of this as "our" song.

I split up from my ex and started getting really depressed about everything as I was in a dead end job. I carried on like this for 18 months until I heard this on my mates ipod. It changed my life I got a new better job and I no longer look back at splitting up with my ex just the great times we had. I moved on

Looking at the rest of these reviews makes me realize that im not insane. This is a really powerful song and it can relate to all kinds of relationships. After all we build relationships so we can feel comfortable enough to be our true selves and so other people can see the good in us and remind us that nothing is impossible. This is a love song for this generation and will live throughout the times that are forever changing.
