From Under What Is Covering | Reviewer: Vincenzo_ | 11/13/09
This might be perceived by many as a love song (yes it is), but upon deeper "digging" the two key elements of the song are Forgiveness & Compassion.
This song teaches us the importance of forgiveness and compassion in their strictest sense. That no matter what happens, for whatever it is that covers up our real selves (or what we used to be), we can still be dug up if we lean on our ability to forgive and forgo another person's faults.
It's only easier to forgive and forget if the 'offended' lets the 'offender' "Dig", and that's when the two key elements come into play.._
A Different View | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/8/09
This song reminds me of a friend. He's a great guy if you can get past his walls. His defense mechanism is being an arrogant jerk. This song reminds me of him because he respects me for being able to call him out on his bullshit a lot. He's been hurt, so has many things that dig at him.
"So when weakness turns my ego up
I know you'll count on the me from yesterday
If I turn into another
Dig me up from under what is covering
The better part of me"
I always know when he's playing Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde, and those lyrics are exactly what its like.

We'll always have eachother, when everything else is gone | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/17/09
I remember hearing this song for the first time my senior year in high school... It always reminds me of my now fiance, Andy, who at the time was my boyfriend and my best friend Kallie. My fiance, who is in the Navy was getting ready to go on a year deployment had flown out to see me in Nashville.. We had heard the song that night, and I fell in love with it ever since. Throughout all of his deployment I listened to that song, which made me think of him
"If I turn into another
Dig me up from under what is covering
The better part of me
Sing this song
Remind me that we'll always have each other
When everything else is gone."
Now that I am moved to another state to live with Andy, far away from my best friend Kallie I just turn on the song and know that we're still there for each other, even though far away.. Just as it was with Andy before.
If I turn into another
Dig me up from under what is covering
The better part of me
Sing this song
Remind me that we'll always have each other
When everything else is gone.
So moving | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/7/09
It shows the power other people have to bring out the best in us, to evoke love, compassion, and raw goodness. It just gives me so much hope and faith in mankind. LIke if I'm ever in a bad place or moving down a rotten path, someone I love will be there to save me and remind me who I am.
It's also just gorgeous and Brandon's voice is so powerful. Really a perfect song.
i-love-it | Reviewer: nathan | 7/8/09
honestly i love the way the song sounds, the lyrics and the message of the whole song, it feels extremely weird when i listen to it. Some weird odd feeling, but its one that makes me listen to this song more, and more and more. Makes me think of my other, and makes me miss her a lot more. This is the best, or one of the best songs from Incubus. Keep rocking Incubus, cause at this point in your guys' career you can only get better.
true love | Reviewer: Karla | 6/18/09
I just simply love the message this song
Sends everyone as some of u guys have said
Everyone thinks of it differently. This song
Will always remind me of my first love and
Maybe the only true love i've ever experienced.
Even though he is far away he remains in my heart
And mind just like this wonderful song.
following another for love | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/21/09
This is a song that I can actually understand and appreciate as is related to my ex who I loved but fought to love unconditionally. I say fought because life challenges, unhealthy habits, our own demons and society hindered our love to continue despite the fact that we dug deep to try and save it. Im surprised how much we got threw and lasted as long as we had together. Sad thought really. This songs allows me to forgive myself and him and move on with knowing that noone one nor anything can take way the power of the love we had for each other the time we were together... truthfully a powerful love at that.
Simplistic yet Captivating. | Reviewer: Mari-elle | 5/17/09
Warms my heart to read a variety of perspectives on this one phenomenal piece of work.
Although the one I cherish and love will probably never read this comment of mine, his presence and his friendship are of such an impact on my life that through this song, it is preserved.
This song speaks for life, love, everything one can hope to obtain through another.
As social beings, we cannot fully soar without properly attached wings, molded, created by another, through intimacy and pain.
We all have faults and weaknesses, some apparent and some covered.
Yet, that one person, whether it be ourselves or another's touch, brings out the best in us. And we find ourselves illuminated and enlightened. For once, our own eyes are opened.
Love is truly a wonderful thing. Even when in our darkest trials, we are held up and set free.
Sometimes, we are influenced by so many factors, we lose ourselves in the mist, and are buried by expectations that everyone sets for us.
You can count on that one person to dig you out of the rubble. And accept you for who you truly are. Embrace all of you with true compassion and understanding.
I do love this song. And also those who love it as well.
KEEP ON POSTING GUYS!
At least we dig each other... | Reviewer: Jess | 5/13/09
I think this song is a really down to earth song, and I believe it's about staying true to yourself. I can relate it to when I think that everything is going wrong, as long as I have myself, and don't let things get to my head... everything is gonna be alright.
I also think of the boy that means a lot to me right now. We're not together, I don't know if we ever will be ... but I'd like it a lot. The lines "We all have something that digs at us, At least we dig each other" and "Remind me that we'll always have each other, When everything else is gone." These lines are always so powerful to me and also in this song. Remind me that we'll always have each other when everything else is gone ... it's re-assuring and it makes me not worry about anything. That's how this boy makes me feel. He makes me not worry and he makes me feel good. Everyone should have somebody like that in their lifetime. To know that someone will always be there, no matter what state you're in.
I plan on getting him to sing this song with me on the weekend, I just think it's a beautiful and fun song. But no matter how you look at it, the meaning is different and important to everyone in their own way. This is what music is about. Lyrics don't have to be about one certain thing, you can interpret them into whatever you want, which is what I believe makes a song even more beautiful than it already is. Thank-you, Incubus. For writing amazing songs that I can always relate to.
Amazing | Reviewer: ryann | 5/10/09
I liked this girl for a year and a half, and we were always super close to dating and stuff, and we were basicaly together and we were always there for each other. A while ago she told me it wasn't going to happen between us. It hit me pretty hard and I've never felt as low as that in my entire life. I heard this song on the radio driving home the day she told me, and whenever I get down about the situatition I throw on some incubus and just let it take me away. Well done..

unconditional love | Reviewer: the pillar of peace | 4/19/09
Zed as i read your words tears begin fill my eyes. Your words of wisdom fill my heart with delight and peace. I am in this world but i am not of it. It is hard to be flesh and human, when you want to live life in spirit. That kind of level of intimacy is unconditional love. Thank you for reminding me why I love Him so much!
Infinite Blessings,
The Pillar of Peace
Cool | Reviewer: Zed | 4/9/09
Its really cool reading everyone's stories about this song. I found the lyrics in a drawer full of papers i am cleaning out today, I printed them last year but I never read the comments til now. Its just really really cool. This is what loving music is about.
To me the song is about that relationship, if you have it or have had it in the past, which kind of transcends friendship, romance, whatever - the person who kind of understands that those things are just words, concepts, roles, but that there is something a little deeper more than that, an understanding that we are simply human and there is a real power in knowing someone who will always treat you as a human before anything else. The idea of being human, with all these shifting roles you play as a friend, a lover, an enemy, is so intimidating and frightening and hard to keep together - its pretty amazing to meet someone who you can drop all of that if you need to and just relate to unconditionally. Not a friend, not a lover, just a genuinely fellow human being.
