My Take on this Song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/21/09

What I get from the lyrics of this song is the fear of being one's own self and following the crowd, so to speak...and that one has the power to take control of his or her life and can steer it/direct his or her sail towards whatever it is one desires in life. Great song, by the way. They're so talented. Not sure I could pen something like this but will definitely give it a try.

Phenominal | Reviewer: Kitteh | 4/17/09

This song just pulls so much emotion from people.
People have diffrent ways of interpreting it, by mine is how loyal I am to all my friends ('Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there...') and how when they're gone I worry about them so much ('How much I let the fear take the wheel and steer.')
I /first/ heard the song when I was about... six or seven, and it stuck with me my whole life. (I'm 15.) The catchy chorus I used to sing to myself, I didn't know the song. But I could remeber the main part ('Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there.')
I heard the song 7 years later. My friend had hooked me to Incubus with 'Love Hurts', and I wanted to hear some of their other stuff. I had checked out 'Anna-Molly' and really liked it.
I was reading an article on Wikipedia about 'Drive' and how the chrous was familiar.
I heard it, and I started crying because at the time, the lines I could /really/ relate to.

Many people have many ways of interpreting this song, but this is mine.
Keep up the good work, Brandon, Jose, Chris, Ben, and Mike.
It only gets better with every song you guys write.

i believe this song expresses how people blend into society through peer pressure and fear of a meaningless life. masking the problem doesn't do any good.. embracing it is the better option being different being true is the only way..

conformity is a big issue, when going along with anyone and everyone you lose yourself to the fear of being different, however if you let others control your life then you lose yourself along the way. only you should tell yourself what to do. only you can tell yourself what to do. you can be anything and everything you want if you will it. go forward embrace life with no second thoughts.

Awakening | Reviewer: Mary | 4/3/09

The first time I heard this song was on MTV when I was getting ready for school one day.... It didn't mean much the sound was catchy but now that I heard it and actually listen to it I'm awaken ... It has so much meaning in such little words .....

collective thoughts | Reviewer: baxter | 3/5/09

Its a good song. Incubus is a gifted band. Before fear holds onto your emotions, it is a good wake up call to remind you its better you take control of yourself. Its the most matured way. (It also shows another facet focusing on drunken driving - "Will I choose water over wine and hold my own and drive?" I also agree with the other reviewers that Incubus's Dig is another unique piece. Bravo!

the best song written about responsiblity besides eminem's song "cleaning out my closet" | Reviewer: sara | 2/23/09

i love this song. i had the CD but never acually listened to the song til i heard this song on "Surfs Up". very nice i mean like only incubus could writea song about owning our own destinys, be it "mistakes" or "successes," and make it rock this hard. Inspiring, beautiful music meant to help us all fell confident and skilled at being what we are. Also meant to make us realize that we are responsible for where we go in life and no one else. Even choosing the wine and pretending not to be in control is still our choice, our responsibilty. One of the greatest songs ever written. Almost contains the entire wisdom of certin 2000 year old spiritaul traditions and it's more than a four minute accoustic jam with sweet harmonies. Go Incubus! And go Eminem!

Becoming a classic... | Reviewer: Brian | 1/17/09

As most here know, this song is not new. It was recorded in the late nineties. I have loved this song from the first time I heard it, and it is sooo cool that it still gets airplay and appreciation. Some songs are just classics. Brilliant songwriting and superb execution. Thanks Incubus :)

P.S. Love "Dig" too

Love it.... | Reviewer: Ms. Priss | 1/5/09

I love this song. It has soo much meaning to it. I am a really moody person sometimes, sorta. I have really two moods depressed happy, but yeah. I listened to the song and was like this such a great song. I don't like that many song by Incubus but this is great and very inspirational. I hope one day I will create a song with so much meaning. I must say this is probably one of my most favorite song because it has inspired me to do so much more with my life. Thank you, Incubus. Thank you everyone that has always stood by me.

Perfect | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/4/08

I was having kind of a bad day, and I decided that I would turn my iPod on shuffle and the first song would be my theme for tomorrow. I was scared it was going to be some rap song about drugs and stuff or some techno song about nothing in particular, but this was about the last song I expected it to be. I hadn't even listened to it much, ever. But I found that it fit my life perfectly.

P.S. What makes it even better is that the day before I got a fortune cookie that said, "You were born with a 'sixth sense' and superb insight." Go figure.

Found Inspiration Moving Forward | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/17/08

I think that a song such as this can mean many things to any person.
At first it was just that song i could tap my foot along to...but if you really listen to the messages it gives...wow, its a true masterpiece of music. (Dig also being a masterpiece)

It makes me think that there is always someone there to help, that everything can work out, no matter what. Mistakes can be made of course, but no one is perfect (though Brandon Boyd an the rest of the fellas from Incubus come pretty damn close in my opinion lol)

This would also have to be one of my most favorite songs to sing. At first it use to be a challenge i knew i could reach. Loving everything about the song made me want to learn it all the more.

I one day hope i can write something at least as half as amazing as Drive

this song drives me | Reviewer: Jimhikes | 9/22/08

I first heard this song on my car radio, and the great melody caught my attention. The harmonies were also compelling -- the song really grabbed me. But for the longest time I didn't hear the whole message, I was never able to decipher all the verses while listening to it.

Then I came here and read the lyrics -- Man!!! What a great message, and what a great presentation!! Just a super job of songwriting, the poet that created this is a genius.

Thanks Incubus, you guys kick total ass.

Enlightened personal philosophy | Reviewer: Lone Wolf | 8/13/08

I see so many people letting fear have the driver's seat, suborning the greatness they might otherwise achieve. What an inspired song... a message so simple, so neglected and yet so important. Lyrics I needed to hear.

Thank you Brandon Boyd! I listen to this (and other Incubus titles, like "Dig") often, especially when I need a reminder to shed my fear and push myself just a little harder. I try to be there, with open arms and open eyes every day for those I love.
