I just wanted to take a close look at all of the lyrics, and I noticed people arguing about which version is better. I personally love Jeff Buckley's original, but if Cullum got this song to new ears, more power to him. After all, my favorite Jeff Buckley song "Hallelujah" is a song that HE covered. That song got new life when Bon Jovi covered it again on Unplugged. I think the bottom line is that great songs get covered because they are great songs. Sometimes the covers make you want to throw up (Sheryl Crow's version of Sweet Child O' Mine), and sometimes covers completely redefine a song (Jimi Hendrix's version of All Along the Watchtower). I might say that I don't know who Jeff Buckley is.. I'm a young jazz music fan. I know that this is an old song but I never know who sang this. Until I heard Jamie's album. I do not understand why people can't leave "what is" AS "what is". Who cares if you like Buckley's version better? Does that justify calling Cullum a dipshit?
