Only one little thing: The first time I heard the first seconds of that intro I was certain it was a Coldplay-song who's title escapes me, but its on their first album "parachutes". My father was not there for me emotionally. Because of his own brokeness he withdrew and left me to fend for myself. The father in a family can "walk away" without physically walking away. Consequently, it has been really difficult searching for a companion that values me. It has been a lifetime of work and healing. John's song speaks to the heart of the issue. My mom and dad are divorced and seeing my sister grow up and go through different relationships really gives validity to this song. My sister literally saw my father driving away and she even chased his car down the street the day he left us. That has such a huge impact on me. She now struggles in all her realtionships. She loves in a way that is not to her benefit and it will stick with her forever. Another song that really touches on this issue is "Damaged" by Plum. I guess John wants us to know that our parents play a large role in the people that we will grow up to be. We will love like our parents...so our parents should love us in the best way they know how. I have heard all my life that you can tell how a man will love his wife by his relationship with his mother and how a woman will love a man by her relationship with her daddy.
