The Reviews about A Bid Farewell (page 1/1)
------ performed by Killswitch Engage

Lyrics perception:
These are my interpretations of the lyrics.

Lyrics: I will bid farewell, sever the ties.
> Justification that we are bound to bonds that bind us. We are tied to our own deceit and we need to cut the bond and never turn back

Lyrics: Is this all I am, is this all that's left? Turn from deceit, the love of self is death, deliverance is given to you.
> Trying to turn away from deceit and narcassism, being somwhat difficult. Love of self is death, being a metaphorical figure of deception and obsession of oneself that should be compramised.

Lyrics: (Chorus)
> Collaborates all the different aspects of the song into a chorus basically

Lyrics: now your heart beats black with deception you have been forsaken leave behind (i will) all reminders of you of you
> Basically states the hardship relationships may contain, to the extent of lies, disobeying someone and forsaking your vowels. Then to find solace, forgetting all existance of them.

Lyrics: searching always searching, hoping for a change i will never be satisfied, i will now bid farewell
>self explainitory. Seaching for a change, hoping for a change, seeking change, progression. Resisint to regression, retrogression, moving backwards etc.etc. then letting it go.

meaning | Reviewer: jerome | 8/3/09

To me, the song is pretty straightforward. He is talking about a relationship(girlfriend/friend) filled with lies, deception, and manipulation.

The line: "turn from deciet, the love of self is death" talks about how that person who "betrayed" him, is so vain and that everything that was said and done revolved around that person's emotion. The implication is that the mentality of being "full of one's self" will lead to unhappiness and the ruination of a soul.

So he therefore, vows to himself to forget what he got himself into, but with the greater insight and intuition for future relationships.

Overall, awesome song. These guys nailed it with such simplicity.

Even as a 45 year old executive these lyrics ring home. I love the alternate guitar tunings as well. Though I have a good life now, this song keeps me grounded to my metal roots and the streets I grew up on. I hope it gives hope to others.
