The Reviews about Rose of Sharyn (page 1/ 2)
------ performed by Killswitch Engage

The "Rose" | Reviewer: koizumi | 10/23/09

I know that there are a lot of discussions about the Rose of Sharyn being a religious reference - and that's cool, but I feel more strongly that the image here is about the loss of his mother. If you look at the lines "It won't be long, we'll meet again; Your memory is never passing; It won't be long, we'll meet again; My love for you is everlasting" - it really speaks out to me as the love a child has for a parent. Thinking about the sacrifice and effort, and the realization that someone irreplaceable has been taken.

However, the lyrics reflect that death does not mean total separation - there is comfort in the memories of that person, and there is also the ultimate reality that when we die, we all become the same - if a line could be drawn definitively between life and death.

I'm not a religious person at all, but the religious connotations are there if you really want to see them. There is no single correct interpretation.

I always love how KSE has songs like this that waver back and forth between chaos, order, and comfort. You can hear a lot of similar compositional patterns in songs like End of Heartache, When Darkness Falls, and Arms of Sorrow to name a few. I always use KSE as the definitive example to show people indifferent to metal that it isn't a mess of notes with screaming. Metal can be just as artistic as any other variety of music - you just have to receptive to it.

BINGO! | Reviewer: Jed | 9/22/08

This song is trully beautiful,im a guy who listens to alot of metal, hardcore, punk and emo stuff but this song has one of the best lyrics that i ever heard and read, serious!
the song reminds of those who we lost, trully love and who we miss from a very far distance also that their memory will never leave us.<3<3

what it means | Reviewer: donny | 7/16/08

lol for all the people arguing about what it means, sons are supposed to be about what the mean to you so it can be about anything, theyre written for people to be able to relate to, yes they usually do have a very big meanny with the writer but its about what it means to you

Its a kick ares song! XD

Im pretty sure it is about Jesus Christ dieing on the cross..

The lead singer is Christian btw.

ok first off | Reviewer: ANANY-MOUSE | 9/2/07

the song is written about Jesus Christ who died on a tree for our sins, + Rose of Sharyn = Jesus so that kinda proves my point and just so you know the part where is says "the Rose of Sharyn will always speak your name" its really "the rising sun will always speak your name"(official lyrics)

:) | Reviewer: Sophie | 4/26/07

This song is actually about someone who has died. so for the person who thinks this song is about them. your wrong.
Nice song btw

Awesome | Reviewer: Ascendancy | 3/28/07
