I grew up feeling patriotic swells of pride when I said the pledge of allegiance, attended 4th of july fireworks, et cetera... Now that I am old enough to know better, I have a very different opinion of our imperialistic monster of a govmint. Yes I know I spell govmint wrong... All our govmint does is keep us so busy making ends meet and following endless legislation that we can't see the forest for the trees. We are now a nation of Sheep-le, not people. Our nation was founded on the rights of individuals, wasn't it? I read that somewhere in grade school or something... Hopefully Obama can make a difference, but I doubt it - the machine is so huge that its momentum will carry us to our collective grave while still lining the pockets of the rich!
