One thing that irks me about the way people sing it now a-days is they have changed it so much from the original simplicity it was written in. THey add all kinds of changes to the original melody and it ruins a great song. If you want to know what good the war is doing, visit with a veteran that served there. An Iraqi farmer told my brother that before American soldiers invaded, his crops were taken every year by Iraqi soldiers, leaving him with little or nothing. He thought he was rich because he actually had crops to sell for once! Oh, yeah, how would you like your school yard to be full of mortar shells and undetinated rounds? The American soldiers help clean those up too so the children wouldn't have amunition to play with instead of balls.
