To the person who speaks like a retard and has "insomnia" , take the time you can't fall asleep and invest it into increasing your intelligence by reading books. Seriously, so many f'in idiots that ruin good song comment boards with poorly written comments. Makes me depressed, someone like that ruins one of the greatest bands with comments like those but S&M with San Fran symphony + this song(or any other) = Best concert ever
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! + !

My song. | Reviewer: Tamara | 2/11/09

Ok I know I can't claim this is my song but I feel this is the song that is my life.

I was introduced to Metallica when I was ten. This was my favourite song. I thought it summed up myself, everything I wanted to be, my dreams, my hopes. I wanted to be a gypsy, forever roaming and discovering new things.

Then my sister was born and my ex-stepdad left so I had to assume a parental role. I'm seventeen now and I had forgotten who I was and who I wanted to be because I was forced to grow up so fast.

Recently bought a this album for nostalgia and upon listening to this for the first time in eight years, I remembered who I am. I just cried for hours. I remembered who I was, who I wanted to be instead of what I guessed I wanted to be. I know who I am now and am at peace, thanks to Metallica and this song. Love you guys so much and thank you! You don't know me, but you have helped me in so many ways.

The world makes sense again.

"Metallica’s masterpiece | Reviewer: David | 2/3/2008

This is the combination of great lyrics with great music. “Wherever I may roam” probably is the most universal lyrics Metallica ever produced, even people living 1000 years ago could connect with the message behind it. No matter what we think every one of us struggles for independence. These great lyrics (truly a masterpiece) come wrapped on a very stimulating and exiting music."

Its about that? Well I guess your the professional...

Evolution. | Reviewer: Rosie | 7/8/08

Just proves that you don't have to speed it up to be thrash, and you CAN be melodic. An excellent example, this song. I mean, Metallica isn't and has NEVER been STRICTLY speed metal (to anyone who complains of the tempo)- thrash came from speed, right? Obviously there was evolution. Thrash and speed metal are completely different nowadays, though good bands can always find a way to combine the two successfully.

The best bands know how to NOT put themselves in a box with one label.

No offence but the top5 u dont dont fit it cuz metallica is sometimes a rock and slow and a metal band.. So ppl need to do top 5 of rock and metal songs of them xD Its hard to make 1 i suppose its why im not posting :D love ya

st. Wherever i may hard-rock | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/26/07

Metallica reinvented a slower kind of thrash with this song, that later evolved into what was known as Load and Re-Load, 2 excellent albums -no matter how u look at it-; they simply have so much experience in rock music that they sell and squeeze the hardness of metal.

REAL METALLICA FANS DON'T SLAG THE BAND OFF AT ALL! | Reviewer: Santiago Muskett | 12/17/07

Its a good song just not for Metallica. To catchy and commerical. What happened to thrash? "Metal is dead"-Lars Ulrich. Fucking asswhole sellout!!!!

They wern't selling out, they were progressing into a new style which suited THEM! if they carried on playing for so-called fans like you who have a one track mind, they wouldnt be filling up gigs like wemblet stadium! There's no rule saying you can't like Metallica's metal AND hard rock styles. and if you don't like it, don't listen to it, and don't slag it off!
This song is rally creative! Another amazing Metallica song to go with so many others!!
