The Reviews about Bury Me With It (page 1/ 2)
------ performed by Modest Mouse

if your looking for the lyrical meaning its rite in the first couple of lines "Well as sure as planets come I know that they end
And if I'm here when that happens just promise me this my friend...please bury me with it" it's the same message in each line which makes the song so genius, its just stating something he enjoys that is happening, and when it comes to an end rather than trying to help it, stop it from happening, or redeem it, hed rather just die with it. even in the first line of the song,But I probably really should have been at work But if my free time's gone would you promise me this that you will (bury me with it) if his free time is over and he is no longer having fun anymore and has to work rest of his life he'd rather just be buried with his "fun" and end it. the only line in this song that has a slightly different message is when he is stating that humanity is at a downfall and will be the death of itself - "We were aiming for the moon, we were shooting at the stars
But the kids were just shooting at the buses and the cars
So dont drink the water, dont you breathe the air
And if its gotten to that point then I have to declare." this obviously means before we were coming together and doing great things (shooting for the stars) now were like little kids blowing up buses and cars (suicide bombings/war) and finally coming to the end of the world (dont u drink the water -chemical warfare dont you breathe the air - radiation - the planet dying - id rather not try to save it, just please bury me with it.

Interpretation #3 | Reviewer: Just Another | 9/22/09

I interpret this song as addressing the sentiment many people feel about the compounding problems facing humans and the world in the coming century.

Since most predictions don't state things as getting really horrible until around 2050, lots of folks are thinking, "Oh well, if things are going to get as bad as they say, we'll all be dead or decrepit anyways. Might as well enjoy the party while life is still good!

Just one more interpretation to add to the quiver.
Thanks!

i love this song, the rusted awkwardness fits the lyrics perfectly :)

just my 2 cents, it's about being attached to trivial bullshit, and letting that decelerate your life.

also, all you talking about emoes and indie music and mainstream music and all that are dickbutts.

Dont judge a book by its cover... | Reviewer: Mike | 1/10/08

I really agree that modest mouse is not emo, bofore this page i had never even heard that MM was concidered emo! I just thought of it as GREAT music! A few reviews before me, some one had also said it was more of a story not a song... Try listening to Depeche mode...Thats a story...

Modest mouse is good | Reviewer: Seth | 12/31/07

I just wanted to ask to all the people out there that don't like modest mouse, have you actually listened to a whole MM song? I used to absolutly hate modest mouse, but I never listen to a whole song by them. Then one day I actually did listen to them and now there one of my favorite bands, Hell I'm listening to Talking Shit About A Pretty Sunset right now. So just think about it, you might actually like them if you give them a listen to.

P.S: Modest Mouse is Indie not Emo, believe me there is a difference between the two genres.

Lets just say it's socially relevent. | Reviewer: Kurtis Repstock | 11/14/07

Lyrically, this song is making obvious allusions to the society we view ourselves in today. With the cult of celebrity, rampant materialism and greed, brainwashing with inane commercials and media, etc. There is a visual imagery in the lyrics to the ideas associated with conformity and a stagnation of the free flow of ideas (ie. "Good news for people who love bad news/
We've lost the plot and we just can't choose/
We are hummingbirds who are just not willing to move.")

Where do you get that? Because we listen to modest mouse we become not only emo but also a fag? Or were you implying that all emos are fags? Either way, you're wrong.
