Stockholm Syndrome title IS appropriate | Reviewer: musicfan | 8/17/07
Hey, guy who posted earlier, can't you see? Stockholm Syndrome is a perfect title to describe the singer's ambivalent, trapped, passionate relationship with the person he's addressing. It's one more brilliant touch to an absolutely mind-blowing, amazing fucking song which reaches into my guts and squeezes them into paste. By the way, I've been suicidal before, and this song is probably the best depiction I've EVER heard of the combination of fear, anger and guilt that precedes such a state.

Could this song be any better? I think not. It is absolutely haunting and a thrill to listen to. It may be my favorite song of all time, and by far the best track by Muse.

Whenever someone says "Muse" this song is probably one of the first things that come to mind.
It's sad that Dom's dad passed away after they played this song, their last song of the Glastonbury festival in 2004. That was probably their best gig.
The song is incredible. Powerful and beautiful.
Maybe the best Muse song | Reviewer: Ella | 2/28/07
It's been my favourite since I first heard it, it's an incredible song. The lyrics are haunting, they do seem to stay with you, and I've found it very inspirational. Love this song...

I love the song, but i was a little shocked that they would make a song about Stockholm Syndrome. For the readers whom have no Idea what stockholm syndrome is, "The Stockholm syndrome is a psychological state in which the victims of a kidnapping, or persons detained against their free will — prisoners — develop a relationship with their captor(s). This solidarity can sometimes become a real complicity, with prisoners actually helping the captors to achieve their goals or to escape police." Pretty odd huh? XD
How do they do it? | Reviewer: Lára de Brun | 7/19/04
Muse have triumphed again. Matthew Bellamy's falsetto is astounding, as always, and reminds me so much of the tragic Jeff Buckley.
Fantastic lyrics, and the titles always make you think deeply about the meaning of the song. Somewhat reminiscent of Emily Dickinson's poetry in the ambiguity of the meaning or core of the song, but beautiful, touching and eerie all at once.
10/10!
A Unique Experience | Reviewer: vivec | 7/12/04
Well, I wasn't sure what to think when I went onto the Muse site to listen to the rest of their album Absolution. I was scared that they'd disappoint, as so many bands do. Time Is Running Out is a great song, as is Hysteria, which I had also been played before I went to hear the remainder of the album. But I was thinking, is this a band that can maintain such a high standard of music?
As it turns out, they most certainly are.
Though the whole remainder of the album impressed me, this is the song that struck me as the best. Behind Hysteria, I think it is their second best song. It has a unique sound, with many different styles blending into one another in a way not dissimilar to The Butterfly Effect's 'Always' and Korean band H.O.T's 'Iyah'. Though the mood is somewhat gloomy, the music is upbeat and energising, with an almost electric feel.
A very interesting song, and a very good exploration of sound. 8/10.
