hmm | Reviewer: Kylie | 12/28/07
He wrote this song cause his mother kicked him out of the house after he dropped out of high school- he didn't have enough credits to graduate, anyway-
he didn't have anywhere to go and he lived under a bridge for a while. Thats how he got the idea to write this song
rip Kurt!
why | Reviewer: anonymos | 12/27/07
he wrote it about his experience as a child when he had to live under a bridge because his mom kicked him out after he couldn't graduate from high school...
what's about | Reviewer: MadPoet | 12/22/07
i have no idea what kurt wrote it about, but i always thought of it as an hymn of loneliness... but it's just my idea. all i know is that this song struck me when i was 11 and never let me go...:')

All that matters to me is how much this song means to me & how I interpret it. Nobody can safely know exactly what this song really means.
Personally, I love this song too much & I think that it's important what this song means to you.
You people are not Kurt, you should feel what YOU feel.
haha | Reviewer: cassi | 11/17/07
i love how everyone thinks they know kurt like they sat down and had a chit chat with him about the song....give it up...the song just is...if you wanna know the apsolute truth...go ask courtney love or something lol if you can understand the words that come out of her mouth!...GROW UP PEOPLE!
uhh. | Reviewer: kelly | 10/10/07
yeah, those who are choosing to argue, are fools.
i agree with joe. its pointless to pretend that you know absolutely everything, and insult people for having there own interpretations. its a great song, and people love it. leave it at that. not whos right and whos wrong.
you're all wrong | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/18/07
the people he hated were the people that took him too seriously, he didn't want anyone to take his lyrics seriously and he just wanted people to like his music and not worship him.
WTF... | Reviewer: Joe | 9/13/07
Those whom are fasinated with his music and understood Kurt for a musician and a person, were the very people he cared about. The people who make assumptions and literally know everything about him and talk shit all of the time...like Laura and Jane, are the very people he hated. Kurt was an amazing musician, lets just leave it at that. I am a musician as well. His music is simple, yet bold... I hate it when people bitch about what songs mean because they can be taken so many different ways. So what if he did or didn't live under a bridge. He extracted the feelings and emotions of being under there and put it into one of his songs. Thats what music is all about. So just stop this pointless argument, and move on with your lifes. Go ahead and argue with me. Kurt is my idle. His songs influenced my life to the point where I woulden't be living without it. I just fuckin hate chicks that bitch because they know EVERY GOD DAMNED ASPECT AND EVENT OF MUSICIANS' LIVES! SHIT! So yeah, as RIck stated, "let the song rock and be happy!"
he did write it about bieng under a bridge | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/9/07
ok i am so sick of this shit. kurt spent some time under the young street bridge by felony flats in aberdeen washington where he was born and raised,(me too) he didnt "live" under there. he spent time under there playing music hanging out, skipping school what not, if you go to youtube and type aberdeen washington you will come across a video about it.
wow. | Reviewer: hobbit | 8/29/07
this song...
like the melody and the way everything meshes together in an odd way...
especially the cello...
it's like it pulls something out from inside you that's purely primal and very sincere and simple.
definately my favorite Nirvana song.
and it really doesn't matter what it's about it only matters what it makes you feel.
wow | Reviewer: jane | 8/27/07
Lol @ Some Guy!! Your just the kind of person that annoyed Kurt Cobain!! Haven't you ever heard the song "In Bloom"?? That's meant to be an insult to people like you...
But those of you who said that Kurt didn't live under the bridge are right; it was too muddy and wet to live there with the tide coming in and out. He made up that story...
Heh. | Reviewer: Ananoymous | 8/20/07
This totally sounds like a song about being a vegetarian, lol. I know it's not, but still.
Uuuhh Kurt Did | Reviewer: Not Important | 7/18/07
Kurt Actually did spend some of his homeless time under that bridge when he was young. Then he moved into his "school Master"'s house. Where he spent a month or so.
But on with the point.
Awesome song. I love Kurt to death. As do I love Nirvana to death. And The Lyrics.....Are Right. =] Yay!

This song reminds me of the day i left my parents house when i was 16 of 17. the first week was hard. i bet that was what he was writing about
Awesome song | Reviewer: some guy | 7/17/07
I don't exactly understand why everyone has to know what a song is about. I think that interprating music is all good n all but why argue about weather the song was writtin about time spent under a bridge or being "spell bound" to Courtney?
