Common miscoceptions and Thelema. | Reviewer: Zebb Jessup | 12/16/07
Aleister Crowly was not Satanic in any sense of religion. His beliefs about any deity or denomination (of the hundreds) of "Satan" are not on record. Crowly was an Occult practicioner. Occult beliefs are based around the principle of searching for Truth. Crowly was mainly known for his teaching and foundation of Thelema. Thelema is centered on two principles; Do what thou wilt shall be the Whole of the Law.( meaning to follow what you want, seek it, and you will get it. this pertains not only to wants and desires, but steers you on a path towards your destiny)
And; Love is the Law, Love under Will. ( Meaning that love is not pre-destined, but is still the key to enlightenment ) Thelema is wonderful...read about it.

Joey said: "And remember, if you state an opinion about things you don't know anything about, except for what your prejudiced believes tells you, it's gonna come back and bite you..."
Then why don't you bite your own ass? Because, my dear friend, you are just like all the teen satanists - you know nothing, but still pretend to know! Do you know even what the word "satan" means? The old israilic word "shathan" wich means "enemy".
And Lucifer is NOT an ancient roman god. Yes, it means Lghtcarrier, but he is one name of Shathanail. Read the history of the Church Dogmas, then - the Bible, and then, then, and ONLY then dare to speak what is satanism.
You are just like everyone else - one with his own vision about the satanism.
And that is the satanism - a thing, that does excists only in the imagination of men. Satanistic Bibles! Ha! Just one fool had written his pathetic lifeviwes, and there are other - bigger - fools, who are eager to believe him.
God, where is the Inquisiton now.... Ha ha ha!
I agree | Reviewer: Joey | 10/13/07
I must laugh about some of these comments, but I agree with "Are you people stupid". DO research what you comment before you even think about opening your mouth.
Satanism can sure be a phase in teenagers' lives, but that's only because they have no idea about what the hell satanism is, and because they usually believe God has fucked with them. (I had two class mates who suddenly turned satanic because they had a few bad experiences, that was in 7th/8th/9th grade)
I speak from experience, because I am a satanist myself. People who think satanism is bad, who think satanists are people who are just trying to scare others or whatever, are narrow-minded and ignorant, because the way the western civilization is living today, is actually what satanism preaches. Except that in satanism you're proud of what you do, you support your believes, you don't feel guilty for being a little vain, you don't feel guilty for having sex, no matter how, where or when etc. etc. etc.
The western world is built on christian upbringing and in some way we still pass on to our children that the ten commands and whatever are bad and sinful. Even though we are so free-spirited and open... right.
The main principle of satanism is to follow your lusts and desires AS LONG AS it doesn't involve someone who doesn't want to be involved. The mistake people do from the christian point of view is to apply the christian version of satan to satanism. In satanism, satan is not this evil creature with horns, waiting to torture you in Hell, satan is a dark power. And God is a light power. But without good and evil.
A name like Lucifer, most people think means satan, but that was actually a Roman god who was a light carrier, Lucifer should be a positive thing. The word "demon" comes from the Greek language meaning protective spirit or SOURCE OF INSPIRATION. Look it up. Then there are those three evil creatures, Ziz, a bird, Behemoth, an ox/elephant and Leviathan, a sea monster/snake, also applied to satanism and worshipping satan. If you look at those three without judging, you'll realize it's symbolic creatures made for sea, earth and sky.
Somewhere along the way, someone misunderstood all these symbols and used them to suppress humanity, and stupid and fearful as humanity is, it follows. All a satanist does is to embrace life NOW, because that's all we are sure of having. As a matter of fact, it was the christian church that named satanism, only because satanism supports things like the seven death sins. So it had to be a work of satan.
Read The Bible of Satan by LaVey and realize what you're doing in your everyday is actually practicing satanism. Satanists just admit it, that's the only difference. All the killings and whatever shit we hear about connected to satanism, that's merely cults that take things a little too literally, just like Scientology or Jehova's Witnesses or whatever.
If Mr. Crowley was a satanist, that doesn't really matter because there's nothing bad about being a satanist. Ozzy did a great job with this song, but I wanna recommend the cover by Rob Halford, Dio and Yngwie Malmsteen, kicks ass!
And remember, if you state an opinion about things you don't know anything about, except for what your prejudiced believes tells you, it's gonna come back and bite you...
Correction | Reviewer: Joey | 10/13/07
Obviously I didn't mean: ... we still pass on to our children that the ten commands and whatever are bad and sinful...
I meant that we pass on to our children that doing what the ten commands say you cannot do, is bad and sinful...
Crowley Song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/30/07
This was such a great song and ozzy isn't justifying what Crowley did nor is he condemning him he's just writing a song about his own perception of Aleister's career.Anyway I loved who Crowley was and what he stood for but the song is a phenomenal work of musical genious!

Mr Crowley was not a satanist. He was an occultist, though. Before anyone makes themselves look like an idiot any further, Wiki the man. I don't think this song is mocking anyone, since in mocking Aleister would make ozzy a hypocrite, seeing as just about everything he did on stage and in his songs had a tie to satan or something with some correlation to darkness it it.
Clarification | Reviewer: Mark Smith | 9/16/07
of topic may it be, but satanism is not about worshipping the devil and all his little demons, it is in actual fact, worshipping yourself, and possibly thinking yourself better than "god"
i'm a satanist, so what?
i'm better than god
oh awesome song, i love it, i think it was like 26th best solo ever in some magazine somewhere, but yeah.

Alister Crowley was not a Satanist at all. He was a man very interested in the occult, which is very separate from any Christian beliefs (Satanism). Crowley didn't kill anyone. He had multiple addictions, one of them being heroin, as referenced. Crowley was also a magician, though many considered him a fraud.
Not to mention, real Satanism has nothing to do with demons or even Satan. It's based around Seit, an Egyptian god, and is pretty much entirely self worship.
People, please, research before you comment.

An awesome song... Cradle Of Filth actually recorded a fine cover of it. An awe-inspiring glow in the dark pop group from England ; )
