Great song. | Reviewer: Jorge | 4/23/13

One of my favorite pf albums and possibly, Roger's second delivery on what seems to be a THE WALL, THE FINAL CUT and PROS & CONS of HITCH HIKING trilogy?? Ha anybody eve asked Roger of such possible trilogy project?

gunners dream TFC | Reviewer: harry sunshine | 8/31/12

the best of the best - Absolute Waters magic - this album has its own unique but typically waters sound - listen to it 3 times and feel the lyrics - definately one for the baby boomer generation and beyond. remember our fallen heroess

my take!:) | Reviewer: jedimesh | 11/28/11

the song is about a gunner who is parachuting down on to a foreign field(enemy country) and he knows he is going to die there. while floating down through the clouds he gets this dream where he sees his ma with crying over his death and the month is november.

he then takes hold of her hand to console her and assures her that he is in a place where there are no wrong side of the tracks or good side of the tracks!. breave soldiers move around in peace and no war and one can speak out what's on your mind without being judged or scorned at! where law prevails for all and all can hope to get access to justice. a place where children are not killed. heaven? :)

somehow can't relate RW would think there exists a place like heaven!

but then the gunner would be given respect if we all can heed of his dream!

The Final Cut | Reviewer: GK | 4/2/11

TFC album is very under rated, but according to my personal opinion: is one of the greatest album of Pink Floyd. The song "The Final Cut" from this album with the same name, is the best song from Pink Floyd. The gunners dream is just next to it, always my personal opinion. Peace.

Some Insight on TFC and Gunner's Dream | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/4/10

TFC definitely isn't the standard Pink Floyd sound, but it's got great music nevertheless. It's a very underated album. Although I can understand why it's overlooked. This totally breaks the mold in my opinion. Always great to hear the band (or Waters, more specifically)take on a different style.

Gunner's Dream is one of my favorites on the whole album - it takes the good instrumental (particularly the sax in this case) that Floyd has always had and adds truly inspired lyrics that take the ability of Floyd as a band to a whole new level.

WHAT? | Reviewer: Dan | 9/6/09

TFC is an amazing album. As good as it gets. When you compare it to The Moon or Wall its not at the same level. Buts that not fair. Compare it to other bands in 84. Nobody produced such an album. And Roger Waters is by far the best of the band.Amused to Death or Pros/Cons kills Momentary and deffenitely that Bell one by Gilmore. And I love David Gilmore.

Different? | Reviewer: JD | 6/6/08

I've been a Floyd fan for over 30 yrs, and have never listened to TFC up till about a year ago. I had a co-worker lend me his copy, and now it's taking root in my head! It definietly shows the anger Roger has over the loss of his father. Too bad Roger and the others couldn't get along...they would have put out some real masters. I do enjoy the following releases, but he just added something a little dark to their music. JD

Amused to Death | Reviewer: Joe Stanton | 10/16/07

One of the best songs on the album. Waters at his best.

I also recommend Waters "Amused to Death" as a more modern discourse on war. While I worked at Bell Helicopter and had access to helicopter gunship video I put "The Bravery of Being Out of Range" to a video - what was scary is how excellently the lyrics matched the video of choopers blowing up tanks, etc.

The Gunner's Dream lyrics | Reviewer: Xard | 7/7/07

Even though The Final Cut is quite weak for Floyd LP (egoistical Waters without musical talent of Gilmour and Wright has no chance against classics lik Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here and in all but name TFC is Waters's solo album.), The Gunner's Dream is absolutely beatiful track. Waters singing is so full with emotion, that you can't miss noticing how personal this song must be for him.

And lyrics are some of the best ever written.

Plain great | Reviewer: Kang | 6/11/07

Well, somehow this isn't the typical Pink Floyd sound which is why a lot of fans don't like it too much; at least that's what I hear. Anyway, I'm not such a fan of Pink Floyd in the first place, but this for sure is one of my favourites among their songs. I think everybody should at least give it a try...
