Meaning | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/23/09
The song is about a story that the band's manager told them about a gay guy he knew in college. He went to a conservative college in San Diego and he offed himself by jumping off of a bridge hence the "step back from that ledge" part. The other lyrics are about the lead singer's rough childhood and his parents' divorce.
Song About Crystal Meth Addiction | Reviewer: Charlotte | 6/29/09
I read in an interview with this band (Third Eye Blind) was written about a friend with Crystal Methamphetimine addiction. Yes, suicidal it is, because doing Crystal Meth is commiting suicide, slowly at first, all the while speeding up. I can understand why it says, "I will understand if you never want to see me again". Sometimes you can't help someone because they won't accept help, and you have to let go and turn your back. Good song! Easy to play on the guitar also!! Just A minor, C Major, and G Major. (A couple of times there is a D Major)
my view | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/30/09
in my opinion, this song could be taken a few different ways. the first time i listened to it, "you could cut ties with all the lies you've been living in", almost sounds like it is talking about someone who is a suicidal compulsive liar. but anyways, just my opinion. it's a great song though.
what...no | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/9/09
this song is not about someone who is suicidal.
cut ties with all the lies that you've been living in..step back from that ledge my friend and if u do not want to see me again i would understand..
- do what you have to do to improve your life and become a happy person and if that means cutting ties with people who are "lies" in your life so be it, they will understand. etc...
You could re-start your life again... | Reviewer: Clarity | 12/25/08
If you are in the midst of continued suffering from all of the "acting" that you have been doing. Trying to be the "player" that you are. You can stop. I know of your secrete pain... I know that you want to live like that you are on that ledge and your life doesn't mean anything, but, hey, as your friends - They will understand if you Cut Ties with them. It's okay. They are your friends and those that will continue to be your friends have always been your friends. You don't have to pretend anymore. Be true to yourself and stop acting like something that you think people want you to be. In front of the mirror in a night club when you are the drunk baster, that is when you do often realize who you are not. Be Good. Step away from throwing your life away for meaningless pretense and Restart your life again please before they throw dirt on your face. It's your life, write it the way you want to! Your friends will understand if you don't talk to them again.
Bad Ass Song | Reviewer: Slitting my Wrists | 11/20/08
damn, this song is bad ass. i could listen to it every day and never get tired of it. there's also a re-make by bedlight for blue eyes, but its not that good. origional is waaaaay better. the lyrics are really good too. they have a lot of meaning to them.

My view.. | Reviewer: Jane | 10/29/07
This song is about a guy who has a friend that is suicidal. The guy is trying to tell the friend that he "understands." It's pretty self explanitory, just give it another listen and you'll catch all the minor details. For example "And well he's on the table,
and he's gone to code." Means he is at the hospital and he is about to die.
