(John 3:36; 2Thessalonians 1:6-9) He REQUIRES that humans worship him "with spirit and truth." (John 4:24) That explains why most [FALSE] religionists are, relatively, very casual and easily-aquiescing regarding the basis of their beliefs; but, in comparison, those who "KNOW" and obey Jehovah-Yahweh and his scriptural words of truth are able to and do stand firm for God and his purposes, despite pressure and trouble put on them to be like most [FALSE] religionists - to break their integrity to God (or to never develop any), and to put other desires, things, or persons before Him as god (which is idolatry). Satan tempted Jehovah/Yahweh's own Son to turn against God in disobedience and disloyalty that way. His offer, loosely paraphrased (and repeated), went something like this: "All of this, all of this can be yours/ All of this, all of this can be yours/ All of this, all of this can be yours/ JUST GIVE ME WHAT I WANT" [[["do an act of worship to me"]]]...."and no one gets hurt." (That is the "Vertigo" bridge.) (Compare Matthew 4:8,9; then read Jesus' example of a LOYAL response to such an "offer.") This is to show you and any others in the same state of heart and mind (as demonstrated) that you have spiritual issues to yet to tackle - ones which will soon mean life or permanent death - but that you, evidentally, currently aren't even "aware" of. That means there is a whole lot of learning to be done, FAST. (John 17:3) In the meantime though, why should anyone to whom Jehovah/Yahweh is NOT even god come and print "falsely called knowledge" against him and those speaking of his scriptural messages? What is their motivation? Why would someone who rebels against higher thoughts and higher moral standards do so; yet recommend "listening" to LOWER, proven to FAIL (as regards peace, righteousness and justice, etc.) ideas of mere men (including themself) INSTEAD???? Again, atheists HAVE FAILED to hold to standards of justice and righteousness; JUST LIKE other FALSE religionists have. BOTH REBEL AGAINST THE SCRIPTURAL STANDARDS OF THEIR MAKER, CLAIMING THAT IDEAS OF MEN SHOULD TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER SCRIPTURAL commands and principles when it is "convenient" to the desires of men to do so. So the whole world is getting its pre-Armageddon warning, just like God said would happen, and people are making their choices over WHOM THEY WILL SERVE. Whom each person chooses to serve as God or god WILL SOON MAKE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WHETHER THE CREATOR LETS THEM CONTINUE TO LIVE, or PERMANENTLY DESTROYS THEM for their innate UNRIGHTEOUSNESS of refusing to obey their own Maker in natural gratitude and more. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN the joint grouping of athiests TOGETHER WITH FALSE religionists VERSUS Jehovah's Witnesses is that Jehovah (Ieova, Yahweh, Yekovah, Geova, Exhoba, etc.'s) global people KNOW who it is that we WORSHIP/SERVE; KNOW what God's will is, because his words spell it out and his spirit (power/ active force) leads us; and HAVE ACTIVE PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS WITH AND MENTAL CONTACT WITH GOD HIMSELF - whereas, as expressed above, many of those of the atheist/FALSE religious camp not only CHOOSE TO DISREGARD God's own words as convenient to themselves/their self-desired values; but wander about proclaiming that no one can know the truth about God. That is like a person who chose not to buy a ticket for a U2 concert standing around in the parking lot telling other people that they can't go in either; that U2 doesn't REALLY EXIST; and that U2 isn't REALLY playing, even as sound spills out of the arena; with the person with no ticket-by-choice proclaiming that "no one has a handle on the truth" of whether U2 is REALLY playing. There, the "creation evidence" factor would be that U2 was making SOUND that could be heard. Yet, the non-ticket buyer chose mental DENIAL of that clear EVIDENCE, DENIAL OF THAT REALITY. Somewhat similarly, God himself rightly teaches and WARNS that those humans who stubbornly keep choosing DENIAL of HIS existence, personality, and rightful Godship, as EVIDENT in the handiwork, design, and power, etc. of creation all around them are INEXCUSABLE for doing so. They are rightly called "foolish" by their Maker. Again, read of today's prophesied, large-scale, God-rebellious, God-denying, God-disrespecting and God-disobedient attitude; the rotten state of the world it has wrought, and the doom of the future of those continuing in that self-desired, darkened-hearted way. Recognize anybody? Self in mirror, anybody, perhaps? Jehovah/ Yahweh and his Son Jesus Christ have commanded TRUE, obedient worshipers of God and thus TRUE, obedient worshipers of Jesus Christ to both spread the scriptural "good news" of Jehovah/ Yahweh's incoming REAL (heaven-based, NOT manmade) perfect global government Kingdom of God AND GOD'S ALREADY-MADE SCRIPTURAL WARNING, JUDGMENT MESSAGES AGAINST THAT WHICH JEHOVAH-YAHWEH HIMSELF CONDEMNS as EVIL, UNRIGHTEOUS, and DESERVING OF DEATH. (Matthew 24:14; 28:19,20; Ezekiel 3:17-21) Again, FALSE "Christians" - those who pick-and-choose, as convenient, which few of God's commands they choose to market as their identity-front - DO NOT OBEY Jehovah-Yahweh and Jesus Christ in this regard either. Again, that is why hard-core FALSE religionists, especially those of Christendom, are able to side comfortably with those atheists who say, "There is no God", because, to the FALSE religionists, deeply, in effect "There is no God" EITHER - both such atheists and false religionists have FOUND WHAT THEY'RE LOOKING FOR in spiritual lies they love - love more than the natural love for their own Maker which they should naturally allow to come FIRST. So, again, both hardened atheists and hardened FALSE religionists have no problem joining in team effort to FIGHT GOD by trying to FIGHT the telling of scriptural, spiritual TRUTH - THEY HAVE GOD, HIS WORDS, and PERSONS SPEAKING HIS WORDS IN NEEDED STRENGTH AS THEIR COMMON ENEMIES. Yet, as truly IS the case, NOTHING WILL STOP THE SPREAD OF JEHOVAH/ YAHWEH'S SCRIPTURAL, SPIRITUAL TRUTH TO "ALL THE INHABITED EARTH, for a witness to all the nations." Everyone will get an opportunity to hear that "news" as well as God's scriptural WARNINGS over how they must CHANGE and what they must do, in order to meet Jehovah/ Yahweh's requirements for survival of his Day of Armageddon, and to have a place in his new world system on earth. Will the atheist LISTEN? Or will he/she brush- off what means, in REALITY, life or death for themselves and others? Will they humbly crack open a Bible and ask Jehovah/Yahweh, through his Son, Jesus Christ, to HELP them to begin to understand it - to honestly SEE if what they are "looking for" hasn't been in that Book all along???? Will the FALSE religionists likewise LEAVE BEHIND their comfortable group-pride-through-lies philosophies of men and demons and finally LISTEN to God's scriptural messages too, before it is soon TOO LATE??? The accurate prediction made by Jehovah-Yahweh God is that MOST people would NOT "listen" to Him; that people would seek sin-sparing FALSE (anti-scriptural) spiritual teachers; and that many would show hate for and FIGHT God's words and those obeying/applying and speaking them. Yet, again, those TRUE to Jehovah-Yahweh, those who REALLY UNDERSTAND AND APPRECIATE THE MEANING AND IMPORTANCE OF HIS NAME and KNOW AND LOVE THE GOD BEHIND THAT NAME; those who KNOW the scriptural TRUTH about SPIRITUAL MATTERS; will NOT STOP obeying God OR telling about these things, earthwide. As for all of the quabbling, which of you knows you are right? How do you know you are right? I would think that you would all have a fair understanding of our capabilities to discern what reality itself is. Read Descartes. He almost gets us there, however 'thinking' requires a third-party observer to verify that is in fact, what we are doing. Since we can't verify the reality of anyone/thing but ourselves, it is only proper to state "I am". The only resonable proof in support of that statement is that if we did not exist, we wouldn't care to ponder if we did or not. That may be too heady for most though. So, I'd recommend reading St. Augustine and Thomas Aquinus. If that's too much material for you, google 'Pascal's Wager' and read the preface to it. The preface will summarize a fundemental problem for anyone trying to make assertions about god - a problem noted and not resolved by any of these three scholars. The problem? It is the limitation of our capability to understand God that keeps him hidden from us, if He exists at all. We understand our reality based on our relationship to the physical laws that govern our universe. Were God to interact with us, how would we recognize that it was He? We simply can't. The inteaction would be perceived through our limited senses. That's plain and straight-forward. And, since there is no way to know anything about God, should He exist, one cannot logically or reasonably say what His intentions are with mankind, nor attribute any universal experience to Him. As previously explained, it utlizes a greater pool of manuscripts and pieces of them for greater comparative accuracy; and also older ones. The extra care taken to produce THIS literal translation reflects the far greater care that THIS people takes to obey God's words, holding them as THE AUTHORITY for all of the most important - spiritual - matters of life. AGAIN, the correct meaning of God's name is NOT the now POPularized "I AM". NO. It IS, "He Causes to Become", which uniquely identifies the Creator himself alone. In the Scripture you used, John 16:13, the "holy spirit" - God's active force, his power, NOT a person - is being PERSONIFIED. God's holy spirit is his power, his active force; so, when people act against his active force, they (like Ananias) are acting against him. To knowingly act against what would be unmistakably an outworking of his power, his active force is what "sinning against the holy spirit" is. The definition of Yahweh-Jehovah's holy spirit as being his power, his active force, fits all incidences of its use in the Scriptures. A definition of it being a person DOES NOT. For instance, "In the beginning", it was Jehovah's POWER that moved to and fro across the waters of the earth to create land, etc. - it was NOT, of course, a person. At Pentecost, 33 C.E., it was NOT a person that appeared as tongues of fire above 120 disciples of Christ to empower them to speak different languages (for the purpose of witnessing to those of different nations) either - it was Jehovah-Yahweh's POWER, his active force. As far as the idea of different roles a person may fill being an valid illustration to demonstrate how it is that God can be a trinity - three different PERSONS combined into one BEING; I must ask you to please re-think that. The only way a person could actually be an example of the "trinity" - three different "persons" combined into one being - would be if they were POSSESSED by a couple of different demons (not even having multiple personalities would do it). Lastly, as far as the whole of Romans 6:23 goes; yes, of course that is true. Those who have died have paid the wages for their sin: death. The "gift of God" - his provision of letting his Son sacrifice his life to buy back the possibility for humans to live everlasting life, which our forefather Adam LOST the right to by disobedience to God - is the means of Divine justice by which he will raise persons who have died - both "the righteous and the unrighteous" back to life here on earth after Armageddon. Then, they will be given a chance - without Satan's forces or FALSE religious entities interfering at all - to learn Jehovah-Yahweh's truth and choose to obey it or not. (Those who choose NOT to obey God's teachings will not continue to live.) That is what will happen to the dead. (So, they generally are NOT in heaven; and no one is alive in either a hell or purgatory either - that they would be are more Babylon-oriented teachings of FALSE religions.) During that time too, I learned that many other "doctrines" commonly taught by the world's religions (carried forth, like languages were, from Babylon) are also ENTIRELY FALSE, according to the Scriptures: Immortality of the soul; that all good people go to heaven; purgatory; hell fire; the infallibility of the pope; that God would ever accept any "Christianized" pagan/ spiritistic rites, celebrations or practices (i.e., the use of idols/ images such as "the cross" in worship; the winter SOLSTICE as "Christmas"; the spring SOLSTICE as "Easter" [read: Astarte]; or the time of Satan memorializing his war-dead lost when God killed them in the Great Flood as being "All Saints Day".....and the list GOES ON). It is extremely frustrating to realize one has been LIED TO their whole life about spiritual things; but using the Scriptures to resolve these issues - to learn the truth according to God's own words about these things - is MORE THAN WORTH THE EFFORT. (I studied hard, because I NEVER wanted to be FOOLED again!) It is freeing, it is healing, and it is EMPOWERING. Jesus' words then become so true for a person: "YOU WILL KNOW THE TRUTH, AND THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE." So, you are speaking to someone who is NEITHER ASHAMED NOR INTIMIDATED by being "called" a Jehovah's Witness; and so am immune to any intended stigma. Quite the opposite, that is WHO I AM, Who and what I stand for, and what my life's work is to be: A witness to the God of that name, helping to sanctify his name in a world that disregards and dirties it; and a preacher of Jehovah-Yahweh's scriptural truth about himself and his purposes that IS SUPPOSED TO GO ALONG WITH THE PROCLAIMING OF THAT NAME, SO AS TO BRING IT HONOR. That way, as others learn Jehovah-Yahweh's name, they learn to honor it also, rather than profane it with anti-scriptural teachings and practices. Also, as someone who was PREVIOUSLY OF another religion; I am all the more aware of how decrepitly ugly, unwarranted, UNJUST, and evil the gossip, SLANDER, and spiritually jealous/ otherwise HATEFUL words and actions are from those of especially trinity-god worshipping members of Christendom. That is why you see "Jehovah" or "Yahweh" basically ALL BUT EXPUNGED from the Bible translations most of Christendom uses and supports. (The NJB, does, however use "Yahweh" in the Hebrew Scriptures). Indeed, those of Christendom have infamously chosen to refer to the Creator as "LORD" and "GOD" for the bulk of their "worship", by-in-far, for centuries instead. THAT IS MY NAME; and TO NO ONE ELSE shall I give my own glory..." (Isaiah 42:8) "That people may know that YOU, whose name is Jehovah [Yahweh], YOU ALONE are the Most High." (Psalm 83:18) [This is one of the few spots where the KJV DOES use God's name] Another point to reiterate is this: Though John 3:16 has become an cover-all, catch all, placating mantra of "unconditional" and universal/ automatic/ general forgiveness and "everything's okay and is going to be okay"ness to most of Christendom (popular as a bumper sticker and football game sign too); its preachers basically DO NOT teach the stipulative last part of that same speech from Jesus, which reads like so: "He that exercises faith in the Son has everlasting life; HE THAT DISOBEYS THE SON WILL NOT SEE LIFE, BUT THE WRATH OF GOD REMAINS UPON HIM." (John 3:36) Along with its track record of other notorious crimes of DISOBEDIENCE to both God and Christ in this world (involving murderous persecution of Jehovah-Yahweh's holy ones [Christ's brothers] and other faithful true servants; and spiritual adultery to "the kings of the earth" resulting in war mongering that has bloodbathed the earth); Christendom - for worshiping Jesus as being the same as God, as part of a pagan-apostate "Christian" hybrid triune godhead - has also FAILED TO OBEY Jesus words to "RENDER SACRED SERVICE" to JEHOVAH [YAHWEH] ALONE. Check the NWT it uses HE to refer to the Spirit. How can a HE be a force. If you are JW I know you know the first half of this verse but don't stop reading there. Ask yourself what is this "gift". Ask your elders. Study Romans 6-8 and ask God to give you understanding and to "Guide you into Truth".
