THE NAME OF YAHWEH DISTINGUISHES HIM ENTIRELY FROM HIS SON, JESUS CHRIST. HIS NAME MEANS THIS: "HE CAUSES TO BECOME." It is a statement of his UNIQUE power and identity as THE ETERNAL CREATOR and RIGHTFUL UNIVERSAL SOVEREIGN. He further explained his name similarly at Exodus 3:14; where the more accurate translation reads: "I SHALL PROVE TO BE WHAT I SHALL PROVE TO BE."
Absolutely NOTHING about "nails" is present or intended in the contents of God's holy name - to state so is to add into and EXTORT God's name to try to make the "ONE God" Yahweh/ Jehovah FIT a widespread, ancient, pagan, spiritistic template/mold of to form a two-or-three-headed "godhead" out of the two DISTINCT and separate personages of Jehovah-Yahweh the Creator and his FIRSTBORN SON, Jesus Christ - or else those two beings with a third, nameless "female"-essenced, so called "holy spirit/ghost" personage in order to complete a common pagan/spiritistic sex-god, sex-worship triage: Apostate "Christianity's" anti-scriptural pagan-hybrid trinity godhead.
To EXTORT the holy name of the Creator God Almighty is of the highest order of all spiritual crimes - and yet this blasphemous and spiritistic trinity teaching is promoted and upheld as the CENTRAL CORE TEACHING of most CLAIMING to be "Christian" today. Admitting that no description per say of a triune godhead is to be found anywhere in the holy Scriptures; trinitarians EXTORT PIECES of Scripture OUT of biblical context as trinity "proof texts." When these also FAIL to prove the existence of anything other than God and his Son being TWO separate beings; any who want to STILL stubbornly "defend" the trinity, three-headed godhead teaching will respond as religious leaders of their have also said: IT IS UNKNOWABLE/ IT IS A MYSTERY.
Trinitarians have insisted on creating and upholding for their masses a spiritism-origined, hard to relate to, distant-seeming, MYSTERY godhead. Many have shown preference for such a scripturally unfounded, distant, "unknowable" godhead because they are hoping for a less effectual god that would seem, therefore, to exact LESS RESPONSIBILITY and ACCOUNTABILTY from them for any choices they wish to make in their personal lives that they may be aware are things that the One God of the Bible has forthrightly CONDEMNED in his words.
It is no wonder, therefore, that "Christianity" which worships such a spiritistic-hybrid godhead has worked SO VERY MUCH SPIRITISM, HARM, MURDER, WAR-MONGERING, OPPRESSION, and OTHER LIFE-RUINING, EARTH-RUINING INJUSTICES THROUGH THE AGES.
Clearly bespeaking the trinity godhead's Satanic origin is this: TRINITARIANS HAVE TORTURED AND MURDERED OTHERS THROUGH THE AGES FOR REFUSING TO RENDER "SACRED SERVICE" TO THEIR THREE-HEADED IDOL-gOD. It is the favored god of nominal-only "Christians" choosing to also DISOBEY and DISREGARD other truly scriptural teachings; of those preferring man-made teachings and traditions in regards to other spiritual issues as well.
Jehovah-Yahweh, the monotheistic Only True God of the Bible IS THE ANTI-THESIS of the wickness-producing and blood-dripped spiritistic triune godhead of Christendom (God, Christ, and God's word-DISOBEDIENT FALSE "Christianity") with its accompanying body of likewise PSEUDO-SCRIPTURAL spiritual teachings.
The Only True God, the One God Yahweh/ Jehovah - along with his Ransomer; High Priest; one Mediator between God and man; the now-reigning appointed King of God's Kingdom - his SON Jesus Christ (who is also Commander-in-Chief of God's HEAVENLY army of spirit beings) - WILL SOON ENACT HIS PUNISHMENT (destruction) on FALSE "Christianity" for trading pure worship of him for the IDOLATRY of a spiritistic triune godhead and for all the injustice and bloodguilt that been produced from that IDOLATRY. (Yahweh/ Jehovah will soon enact his just vengeance on ALL FALSE RELIGIONS for misrepresenting, denying, and defying his scriptural IDENTITY and WILL also - and for the blasphemy, misleading with spiritism, acts of injustice, and bloodguilt they have all produced for not KNOWING, teaching, upholding, respecting and OBEYING the One and Only True God Jehovah/ Yahweh, the provision of his Son as Ransomer that he has made, and his vital scriptural words of truth. (Revelation 17 and 18; note verses 18:4,5,8,21,23,24)

Truth is indeed stranger and more wonderful than fiction.
The comments above about YHWH are really interesting and inspiring. THanks for that. Another thing the reader really needs to know is that it was impossible for man to have made this name up. Thousands of years before the event, who God was was encoded in this name:

I know and follow U2 for many years now. Sure, in this song they question Yahweh, but the question they ask or bring under our attention is one which mankind is struggling with for I don't know how long. Always pain before a child is born...I use the song for my paper at school and I consider myself as a serieus believer. The way this group and Bono try to make this world a better place has a positive effect, he uses his being famous in a good way I think.

There is no reason whatsoever to claim that "Jehovah" is a "mistransliteration" of God's personal name. The exact original pronunciation of God's name is not known for certain today; since some wrongly allowed a manmade taboo against saying God's name out loud to dominate over the Divine injunction to make God's personal name known to all throughout the earth.
If YHWH/JHVH thought it was important to preserve the exact pronunciation of his name - including the vowel sounds that are not shown between the consonants of the Tetragrammaton - he absolutely would have done so.
No matter what men have decreed or established as their religious traditions, however, God's will, according to his words, remains the same: It is his purpose that all those of every nation, tribe, and TONGUE hail his holy name - use it, speak it, sing it, write it, sanctify it before others, make it known to all throughout the earth.
Evidently then, the entire argument over exact pronunciation - especially over the vowels - IS MUTE. Just as people pronounce and transliterate other names into their own language, "naturalizing" them, so it goes with the most holy name of Jehovah/Yahweh. Both these as well as the other many naturalized forms of the Tetragrammaton to be found in the languages of the earth are wholly acceptable to the Almighty. They are all recognizable as representing the unique name of the Creator. He WANTS his name known and spoken by all peoples, all over the world.
As far as U2's presentation of "Yahweh", however, they have done much serious dishonoring of God's holy name during this past "Vertigo" tour though - by having accompanying elements of their performances, especially their light show - actually BLASPHEME God's name. Usually, during the singing of "Yahweh", they showed one giant lit-up pagan/spiritistic symbol after another on the backdrop of their stage. (Contrast Exodus 20:1-7) What a terrible, terrible example to 3.5 million people and more.
I hope Bono uses his concept of rock and roll as being like a public service announcement with guitars to make a needed announcement then that this was a deadly-wrong thing to do.

I was interested in this song because of the use of the Name of our Heavenly Father and Creator. His Name has been substituted in most translations by the title 'the LORD'. In other cases the title GOD is used instead. The the short form JAH and the mistransliteration JEHOVAH is also used in a few cases. In most translations His Name Yahweh is indicated where it should be by capitalization of the titles Lord and God.
