If a serial rapist-murderer with a compulsion to be a repeat offender admits they have a problem, does that make them "good," just because they owe up to it? No. To think otherwise is to miss the point of the entire song. The point of the song is that no matter how famous or "insignificant" you are, that cheating is still terrible and you will feel cursed your whole life if you think rightly about it afterwards. To do otherwise is to be a sociopath. The point is that even celebrities need to owe up to how terrible they are sometimes, lest they grow too conceited. Also, each one of us, regardless of fame/lack-thereof, needs to do the same. To say "well, everyone makes that mistake" or "who doesn't" is a bandwagon lie, probably coined to make one's self feel better about what this song is really conveying. Here's a better attitude to have: That it is a shame that even celebrities like this have to be so seedy. But at least in some, there is hope that they are not completely beyond redemption. And just as this is so, so also it is that there are those among us who are not well known which also are seedy; yet are not hopeless. No, I'm not an Usher fan; but a Weird Al fan (Confessions Pt. 3). Yet, I can understand the shortcomings in both artists.
