God and Rock Music | Reviewer: Seri | 3/21/09
Listen here all the over zelouse Christians. I am a christian I beleive in God with all my heart. I beleive that Juses is my savior and that he died on the cross for me and three days later rose from the dead. However, I also listen to rock/heavy metal with a deep passion. I beleive in this music and I AM SO VERY SICK OF EVERY CHRISTIAN SAYING IT'S STANA WORSHIP. I know the lricys of this song I looked them up. You just look for things to be stanic. She could possible mean this fallen angel could and more than likely is refering to the devil only because she admints it in this poem/song that she was tricked and decived by this fallen angel, but also she dose say sparkling angel, but that at it frist could mean that she believed that he was good. Which most often is the case. However, which throws this theroy off is the fact that she says Could have been forever which hints more on a love story. Some people can think so highly of the one they love that they call them angels. She also says the smile when you tore me apart which is sublimanile to emtional tearing not phsical. If it was indeed Lucfier she was talking she would not say your feelings for me. Lucifer dose not have feelings for people. So more than likely this is a song about a break up. Wether she is a witch or not is not the point. We are here for the music not for this pointless squable about who the singer or band is and what they stand for. There music and the song is all were here for and so it is for this one great song we all listen too that we went and looked up the song so we can understand this one great song.
Finally! | Reviewer: Calliope Elizabeth | 3/20/09
Finally, people with some sense! I never said my view was the only correct one; I pointed out that they mindlessly critiqued an author's book without even having read said book! Talk about biased!
Yes, Angel is a great song; no, it probably wasn't intended for Twilight (as I said countless times), yes it fits the plot but those who argue against it will never know because they are too stubborn to read the book. Twilight isn't a silly book, in any case, and I'm just trying to knock some sense in those who are too mindless to see that a book about vampires could, in fact, be a literary jewel, a priceless edition to all of literature. There are so many ideas in Twilight, outside of the ideas girls in the age 12 to 14 yr. old category might find, that people all ages can and do enjoy and yes Twilight has enlightened me, and so has this song, and both are so sad and so bittersweet. Meyers allows for a happy ending, though: does that really taint her work of art that much? I think not, as everyone deserves a happy ending, even Jacob.
Sorry Fools | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/17/09
Haha! I laugh at you poor sorry fools, bickering meaninglessly over silly books and religon. Vainly trying to prove your point to people who have deaf ears to the other side of the arguement.
You people are squabbling like gulls over the last picking of a fish carcass. Declairing your view is correct, causing a cacophony of meaningless arguements. It's very amusing to watch.
So, why you people quarrel in a very maddeningly unhelpful way, I and other intellegent people point and laugh at you while giving credit to those who truly deserve it.
The band: Within Temptation. Who brought forth a wonderful song! Who guys rock!
Dahling! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/15/09
Haha. I'm sorry but you guys are hilarious! your all freaking out over this stuff.
1. people focus on the song not twilight. this song isn't about twilight!
2. don't make fun of stephenie meyer, you dont know her. so don't say she is stupid or a ditz. and just because you dont like the books doenst mean you need to hate her. just say you dont like the books.
3. you people need to get a life. seriously. if you have enough time to write that long of comments bitchin' over it you obviously dont have a life. so go play some games or read a book (something other then twilight if you want) haha.
So just stop bitchin' people! Seriously!!
Enjoy life while it lasts cause life is short, we all die somedays, and people that ca enjoy life need to enjoy it for those of us who can't or those that have passed on.

Don't Put Words Into My Mouth; Besides, It Doesn't Matter | Reviewer: Calliope Sylvers | 3/10/09
Excuse me? Are you really going to say that Edward has zero personality? You said you read the book, meaning, singular, so you can't possibly have seen the complete image, as there are FOUR (yes, FOUR) books. You were only revieled 1/4 of Edward's personality. Edward's character is based on his hatred of his own species, and how, in desperation, feebly attemts to cling to his morality and humanity. He loves music, plays the piano, is old-fashioned, stays with Bella despite the fact that it is physically painful for him, when he thinks she's dead he tries to kill himself, he hates Jacob Black because he is a werewolf, but also, though he won't admit it, because Jacob loves Bella. That is FULL of personality. Just because you think Edward is weak, perhaps weaker than you're vision of vampires (i.e. Dracula), doesn't mean that he is, and it doesn't mean that he has no personality. All characters are different, and just because they behave a certain way does not make them one dimensional and a mary sue.
The lyric in the song, "the world may have failed you. It doesn't give you reason why.
You could have chosen a different path in life." show's that Edward CHOSE THE OTHER WAY, unlike those other vampire stories you suggested were more vampire-like. Perhaps so, but I am not interested in Twilight merely because of Edward's and eventually Bella's vampirism. Just like in this song, conflicted morals are presented, and WHETHER OR NOT THE CHARACTERS ARE MARY SUES (which isn't even a real literary term, characters can be whatever the writer wants them to be), a message is sent that no matter what obstacles get in the way, love is unconditional and can survive even the toughest of boundaries. This song presents a middle ground where Bella thought Edward left her and that she was merely a pet. AGAIN, I KNOW the song was written before Twilight; just because a song has been written before a novel doesn't mean the lyrics can't be applied to said novel's plot. I NEVER SAID THAT THE AUTHOR OF 'Angel' INTENDED THE SONG TO BE ABOUT TWILIGHT. I NEVER SAID THAT, SO DON'T PUT WORDS INTO MY MOUTH. ALL I SAID WAS THAT IT FITS THE PLOT, and DON'T CRITICIZE MEYERS FOR ALLOWING THE MAIN CHARACTERS TO HAVE A HAPPY ENDING! THAT'S JUST WRONG OF YOU!
just saying..... | Reviewer: bob | 3/10/09
first and foremost i love within temtation.......now to the business, if you all would look at the world around you, you would see that the world is controlled and manipulated by people like this group. im not saying the world is controlled by music...understand what i am saying....... why wouldn't a witch or people that were dark at heart want to be in a rock band, shown to millions, play for thousands, and be world wide...i know i would. i would for the simple fact of that i would want to spread as much of me as possible to as many as possible. people today are so desensitized to the things of this nature just because of the media and the world do not making it a big deal anymore. i dont think that the previous guy that was talking about the "light bearer" was doing some sorta christian gun slinging act, it seemed to me that he was more less just telling and clearing up exactly what the song is about. and i dont remember seeing where he said that he hated within temptation.... i mean..do you people not think that witches and warlocks still exist???? the owner of the company you work for and probably your boss are a part of this interwoven society............they're not like in the movies, they're for real...they dont fly round on broom sticks... have you ever heard of the Sisters of the Eastern Star...i have, i know lots of them....and they are modern day witches. their fellow craft of the secret order of men also control everything in the US from the president down...dont believe me, just look at the history behind and WHY the washington monument looks the way it does.....and the gentleman that wrote of lucifer is correct, one who cannot see nor understand the black poetry of these songs regardless of what they were written after or what movie they were for are in fact a part of the herd of cattle and will never understand the world around them nor see or know the things to come. be careful of which you jump to your defense or offense about people, especially to do with matters of current day music because more often than not the meaning but more importantly the PURPOSE of a song/poem/chant (they are one in the same)) will be missed to those who's eye is not opened. before you open your mouth you might want to seek the council of intelligent men on the things that you question of this world, that you may have some correct guidance before you derive your own ignorant opinion on things that you truly know nothing about. I mean..have any of you actually asked the singer/song writer of any song what their song is about or more importantly....the purpose of it.....its probably a whole lot more complex than you would think and would probably scare the hell out of you. take my advice, dont be so closed minded that you're not able to see the paper in which the things written between the lines are written on.........

Give me a break. STOP being such ultraconservative sticks-up-the-(bleep) and maybe people will stop fleeing your churches like geese from a field on fire. Ok, seriously, Within Temptation is NOT a Pagan or Christian band, their music WON'T corrupt us "kids"-which, given my age, I find offensive. THIS IS COMING FROM AN EX CATHOLIC!
Our Solemn Hour- written after a viewing of "Braveheart"
Truth Beneath The Rose- about "Da Vinci Code"
The Howling- written for an MMORPG (a videogame) called Chronicles of Spellborn
Ice Queen- written about winter, and some suspect, the Ice Queen Jadis out of Narnia, possibly Jane Fonda's Snow Queen (many interpretations)
Other songs:
Our Farewell- about a mother and daughter parted by death
Hand of Sorrow- written, like most songs from the album "The Silent Force" about a book by a Dutch early 20th century author
Darkwings- see above
Mother Earth- ode to the power of the planet we live on
Seriously. Screw off. SO completely different that what you're saying. Sharon ain't a witch! Ever seen a witch (from the Netherlands, no less!) in a rock band? Because I haven't!
ALso: I've read the book, and TWILIGHT SUCKS. Bella AND Edward are Mary Sues. Real girls don't put up with that kind of crap from guys (I left you because I love you, I can't control my hunger/strength, sorry I almost broke your backbone, you are my cocaine, blah blah blah) and real vamps DON'T sparkle. Real vamps eat Edward for breakfast and use Bella as a toothpick. See Dracula, the Darren SHan series, and Ann Rice's many books for some examples, thugh there are many more excellent ones out there. Notivce how Bella's hair and physical description parralels with surviving photos of Meyer at age 17... (ANOTHER Mary-Sue trait: self-insertation, though a writer with half a brain can pul it off). Plus, Edward has zero personality and Meyer's writing style is awful. How did Twilight even come up on a page that's supposed to be a review for Angels? It was written before Edward was even a fleeting thought in Meyer's ditzy little head!
Ummm, Vampires DON'T have fangs, DUH, they hae really sharp teeth | Reviewer: Calliope Elizabeth Sylvers | 3/7/09
Yes, an intelligent beautiful character COULD be a Mary Sue, if she wasn't characterized and given other traits. Bella is very stubborn, which is both a flaw and a plus. By itself hating shopping isn't a flaw, but in this case it is because the underlying flaw is that she is being uncooroperative and irresponsible. Even going out with Edward is a flaw, because her blood sings to her and she knows it, which means she's a little bit stupid at first. These flaws are completely of Bella's making. Also, Bella does not surpass the other main characters, espescially Alice and Rosalie, who stood out to me much more than Bella did.
Yes, Meyers shouldn't have made all the boys go after Bella, I agree with that part, but the rest of the book is too inspiriting to take that one flaw of the story to taint the whole story.
About vampires "are supposed to have fangs and drink mortal blood", well, Twilight is a transition in vampire lore. It shows that they can choose whether or not to be beastly monsters. They don't have to have fangs, incredibly sharp and dangerous teeth is probably more frightening because it creates an illusion of safety and falsely assures the prey.
Once again, I KNOW the song probably isn't intended for Twilight, but it fits the plot, and everything else is OPINION. In your mind, Meyers may be crap, her vampires ridiculous, the plot too simple and the characters too one dimensional, but then you aren't seeing it clearly - for example,on one hand Bella wants to be with Edward, but her flaws and Edward's flaws make it almost impossible, second, Edward is a very complex character with conflicted desires and needs, but I'm going to stop arguing, because I don't care if you are ever enilightened. And as for your comment that you think I'm crazy, then, good, I'm more like Alice Cullen. Go ahead and say Bella's a Mary Sue, which she's not, but DON'T YOU DARE SAY that Alice Cullen is a mary sue because she is the deapest, darkest and lightest at the same time, character in Twilight.
And so what if my mind, apparently, works on a different frequency than your all-too dull mind.

RE: ummm..... | Reviewer: Kromedome | 3/7/09
I am SICK TO DEATH of this fundamentalist christian dogma!!!! It's JUST A SONG, NOT a call to arms for yet another bullshit ultra conservative Christian witch hunt!
So please whoever you are, do everybody a favour: Get over yourself! Take your banal, nearsighted, rigid, blinkered, uneducated, patronizing and arrogant rhetoric along with your bogeymen and paranoia and just GO! Take the rest of your fly blown flock with you!
While you're at it, apologize to Jesus for once again giving him some really bad press. There are some really awesome Christians out there, but unfortunately there's by far too many F@$#tards giving them a bad name. Frankly, it's sad.
Finally, learn to spell and how to construct a sentence.
Anyway, it's a pretty song and Sharon den Adel's delicate yet powerful voice is juxtaposed beautifully by the rest of the ensemble, which was very well arranged. And that will do for my wank review...
An aside: I can't really see where the vampire stuff everyone here's talking about comes into it... Oh well, I came in late I guess.
Kudos WT.
Witchcraft? Excuse me? | Reviewer: Ryan | 3/5/09
I don't think this song would be about witchcraft... XD
That sounds like a drug-induced conspiracy theory. Find someone that doesn't spike your stuff, man XD
Anyways, amazing song from an amazing artist (:
