Awesome song | Reviewer: Celeste | 6/14/09
The first time I heard this song, I didn't relate it to anything like Twilight or Farseer. It's a good enough song where you can create your own images and your own characters. It allows you to be creative with your mind. Who was the man and what was his name? Who was his lover? What was his curse? It's a brilliant song, wonderfully written and beautifully sung. I always love a good song...and a good story! =)
Tells a great story | Reviewer: Amanda | 5/30/09
I don't think this has anything to do with Twilight. I love the series...but this song isn't like that.
I'm actually planning to write a story based off this song. I could see everything that happens while listening to it. It's about a man, possibly abandonded at birth- hence, "the child without a name grew up to be the hand." He has some weird power, or curse, and he has killed many people; this reminds me of "the curse of his powers tormented his life."
But he's guilty for all the things he's done and the people he's killed. I think that can be concluded from the line, "he's torn between his honor and the truth about his life."
Overall, this is just a great song. I love it. :D Each of their songs tells a dramatic story if you listen close enough.
Tired of Twilight fans and haters alike | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/21/09
lol @ the Anonymous hater. The series is just as good and valid as mostly any average vampire romance. It just got Hollywood-fied and people hate it for that? Anyway, I don't think it has anything to do with Twilight and most of those people are just on the bandwagon...as are most of the haters who joined the hater bandwagon.
I saw this song in a FF7 amv about Vincent and it actually went along pretty well. Love WT and all their stories within songs.
TW | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/2/09
God that's annoying. This song has NOTHING to do with twilight, yet all of the stupid teenage girls keep going on and on and on and on about how any song with a freaking love story in it goes with Twilight. It's a shitty series, nothing more than the wet dream of a lonely, 30 year old mormon.
Anyway, great song.
hand of sorrow-Severus Snape | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/1/09
this is a great song!!!i love it an di Love WT
This song reminds me of Severus Snape from Harry Potter actually(u know, the way he liked Lily Potter, the fact that he had to be the dark lord`s servant in the past,etc...)
and it has nothing to do with Twilight...u guys really connect every single thingy with this book,do u//
I love this song! | Reviewer: Ella | 3/1/09
Okay, I may be the only one who thinks this, but this song really makes me think of Train from the show Black Cat. Like, it fits him PERFECTLY. I don't know how many people have seen that show though... but if you have, then you'll probably agree.
But anyways, this is one of my favorite WT songs. It's so powerful and sad, I dunno, it just makes me want to sing along. Which I do. I love these lyrics, they're genius.
This IS about Farseer's Fitz. | Reviewer: Wendell | 2/5/09
It's not a MATTER OF OPINION when writer said in clear words what the song is about. It's about Fitz. If you'd read Farseer you would see it yourself, I recognized the storyline immediately and I am not even that big fan of the books. The Moonlight trype has nothing to do with it.
Some thing are objective, not subjective, and if the facts aren't what you want them to be, doesn't make them facts any less. You can imagine whatever you want while listening to the song anyway.
Hand of sorrow | Reviewer: jess | 2/5/09
I love this song. and WT. and Twilight, as it happens. Although i love twilight, i dont think this song reflects it. It reminds me of the 2004 movie Troy, and the relationship between Achilles and Briseis (Brad Pitt and Rose Byrne)
star wars saga (anakin/darth vader) | Reviewer: SWcrazyfan | 1/25/09
this song fits really well to star wars's main hero/antagonist: ANAKIN SKYWALKER!!!!
he was a child that nobody expected to realize his dream (become a jedi) 'cause he was a slave... until he was discovered by a jedi master (Qui-gon Jinn) who was amazed of his potential and for a "secret commended to his blood" (his virgin birth)
in his journey to become a jedi he met Obi-Wan (his master), Padme (the love of his life) and also Palpatine (darth sidious) who would be the one that turned him into his own HAND OF SORROW (darth vader)
when he became a jedi he had to make a choice: choose between his honor (the jedi code that forbided marrige) and the love of his life (padme), he choose both when he married padme in secret and they were about to have child... but was denied when he became Darth Vader (his dark part that consumed him).
He was tricked by "the crown" (palpatine) to do his will and made him believe that padme would die in childbirth and the only way to save her was achieving a dark power (that cursed him and tormented his life). His soul was cursed by love and pain 'cause the lose of the love of his life would hurt him the most. He knew that achieving the dark power wasn't correct, but the oath made him stay (he swore padme that he wouldnt let her die).
When Obi-Wan discovers this he faces him in a lightsaber duel, and it ends with anakin being dismembered and burned alive, but he survives... but Padme dies in childbirth (she gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl) because his new dark-numb-radical personality broke her heart and she lost the will to live... his "dreams were broken and so much was sacrified" (he betrayed and killed many jedi, from a liberator turned to a slaver, his wife died and his children were splitted up and given to other families, he was confined to a life supporting system armor) ...
more than 20 years pass, and he has trully became a hand of sorrow, his former-master Obi-Wan is killed by him in a second duel, the galaxy is under control by him and his new master (Darth Sidious), everything is chaos and darkness, and he stills carries the burden of the memories of his past... then a rebellion raises against his empire, and two of the key-figures of that rebellion were: Luke Skywalker and his lost twin sister Leia Organa (Skywalker)! HIS OFFSPRING!!
He faces Luke (who was trained in the jedi arts by Obi-Wan and other jedi master (Yoda)) in two lightsaber duels, in the first one he cuts off luke's hand and reveals him he is his father... then in the second and final shodown his son hurts him really bad, and then Palpatine tells Luke to end with his father's life, but Luke refuses and is attacked by an enraged emperor... then Anakin (the good part) arises watching his son being tortured, and vanishes Darth Vader, he probably thinked in Padme and this part fits well to Anakin's sacrifice:
"Please forgive me for the sorrow
For leaving you in fear
For the dreams we had to silence
That's all they'll ever be
Still I'll be the hand that saves you
Though you'll not see that it is me"
then still with his armor damaged he attacks and kills Palpatine and saved his son, and also destroyed the leaders of the empire: His dark part (Darth Vader) and Palpatine (Darth Sidious)... but he dies moments later, but he is redemed by his son, and then he joins the force (goes to heaven in therms of Earth).
Great song indeed | Reviewer: Leona | 1/22/09
@Anonymous: I agree >_>
I love vampire books in general, but Twilight....I'd say, not my cup of tea -__-"
This thing doesnt reminds me of Twilight, but it does remind me of another vampire series, Hellsing [The main protagonist is in love with both killing and a woman]
Back to the topic, Sharon's voice is amazing, and I totally love the thing -w-
