The Reviews about Ice Queen (page 2/ 4)
------ performed by Within Temptation

I think it’s just a metaphor where cold means evil and every day we see more and more on the face of the earth. Suddenly one day will come where only evil reigns over the planet. So she tells us: Come on just feel it don’t you see it? You better believe.

There are a lot of things it could be...But for Christ's sake, it comes after "Mother Earth", about the two young forms of the Goddess. Stictly speaking, I think it's about the Crone form of Mother Earth.

Currently one of my favourite songs. I think they are literally talking about the current state of the world; particularly the current global political climate, i.e. North-Korea, Palestine, Israel, Iraq, Afghanistan, Darfur, Georgia & Russia etc.

When i first heard the lyrics of this song the first think that came to my mind is the term "nuclear winter". Nuclear winter is a hypothetical global climate condition that is predicted to be a possible outcome of a large-scale nuclear war. It is thought that severely cold weather can be caused by detonating large numbers of nuclear weapons, especially over flammable targets such as cities, where large amounts of smoke and soot would be injected into the Earth's stratosphere also blocking out all sun-light.

"...She covers the earth with a breathtaking cloak
The sun awakes and melts it away
The world now opens its eyes and sees
The dawning of a new day..."

The above lyrics literally give me the "chills" . It could be a hypothesis of what might follow after "nuclear winter" for those that remain.

Erm, tenth post up | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/11/08

Yeah, that old chestnut. Beautiful song. Very dramatic. I think it's a song about evil in general which uses language evocative of "Ice Queens" in fiction such as Jadis to get its point across. They've got some very interesting videos on YouTube set to the song.

it remind me of the killing cold that you feel when alone out in the sown and no one there to comfort and all you can do is run to stay warm or fall victim to to the to the cold winds that sweep in from the north
hell is what i give you

Chillingly Beautiful | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/15/08

This song is one of my FAVORITES. It's funny, but I first heard it when my area was in the middle of an hail-and-snowstorm, and to me it definitely seems like Within Temptation could be talking about Winter personified.
However, there is some arguement for the "Queen Jadis" theory. At the beginning of the song, notice:
a.) the deer/reindeer hooves and the bells (Jadis had a sleigh pulles by reindeer with bells on the harness)
b.) the thud of feet jumping down on something, then a short bit afterwards, what sound like a bottle of something being opened. Narnia fans will remember that in "Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe" Jadis has a bottle of magic potion opened for a young boy named Edmund.
So.... Jadis the Ice Queen, Lady Winter the Queen, Fonda's Snow Queen, we may never know. But this song is DEFINITELY worth downloading or buying on a CD.

Ice Queen vs. Snow Queen | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/23/08

I first found this song as I watching the 2002 tv version of Han Christian Andersens' book 'Snow Queen' I listened to this song and as I heard it became more and more clear..at least to me that she was talking about Bridget Fonda's character of the Snow Queen

Ice Queen | Reviewer: Shawna Lynn | 1/12/08

Perhaps it's too literal of an interpretation, but I immediately thought of the witch from The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Upon reading the lyrics, I was immediately struck with a second literal interpretation. The song is simply about winter. In northern climates, such as the Netherlands, winter can be a deadly beauty, much like the woman described in the song.

Great song, great Band great Band, Fantastic video | Reviewer: Ndangasare | 1/3/08

I think they are mostly talking about wars and causes of it, like selfishness etc that when war breaks it destroys everything, so we better keep away from it.

I like the band very much, the guitarists are great, the lady has a very nice voice fits for this particular message very much.

I have seen this songs video is very great, actualy its to me is among the best music video i have ever seen.
COOOL guys
