So many people in the world are suffering and music seems to be everyones escape from the horrors that reality can bring us. Music is definately an amazing gift, that can touch so many lives. I'm speaking as one of those lives. Whenever I go through tough times, I realize that there might not always be people to relate to every situation I go through, but there are songs that can lift you up and songs you can relate to that help you get back on the right track in life. A good song I can relate to is "ashes and wine" by a Fine Frenzy at the moment, but listening to Pale makes me feel like I can heal and move on from the incidences that have occured in my life. Since a lot of people shared their stories, in the previous comments, I'll share mine. I'm 18, and had a long distance relationship with a man 400 miles away, things were perfect, we were soulmates, together for almost a year, and I went down to visit him again for two weeks to live with him and his family to get closer to his family. It was like we were engaged, he got me a promise ring, and while I was down there, I was so positive I was ready to give up my city life for his country life, and let his world become my own, I was gonna give my life in a big city for him and his little town, and then I come back home and he changes, his family brainwashed him, making him believe things saying that I had so many emotional problems that only God could take away, not a man. Then he said I wasn't the right one for him, and his mom was the cause of this split because he said that he listens to his mom because she's wise, but she's not, she was scared to lose her son, made him take back the promise ring he bought me to get the money back for it, and it's sad when mothers cannot let go of their sons. To all mothers reading this- NEVER convince your son to leave a girl who would have given them the world. I did more for him than his own mom and that's sad. They both have issues and now I'm glad I'm out of this situation, because he said the next guy that gets me will be lucky, and I'm like, 'well your loss'. He ended up becoming a bible thumper like his mom, and I respect that, that's just not my path. I believe in God, but that's all, no religion dictates me, apparently God told them that I wasn't the one, but who knows, I just say it was a messed up situation that's left me confused in this world. I'm telling my story to inform anyone that's been in love, and to mothers out there with sons, Don't give your whole heart to someone that's not going to listen to themselves and that's not going to sacrifice for you, DONT DO ALL THE BENDING, don't let people think they have you completely, because they'll mess you up in the end! and Mothers- why would you ever brainwash your sons if they had a girl who had straight A's in a Big 10 university, whose had straight A's all their life, KNOWS what they want in life, has many talents, and despite all that, had the biggest heart in the world!? WHY? If a mother could answer why they wouldn't want a girl like that for their son, I would appreciate to hear your reasons. Okay I wrote enough, but anyone who reads this, relationships aren't just loving the other person, it's loving their family too, and if you can't get along with their family, then the relationship will suffer. But this song has definately given me hope to love again and to move on from this tragic situation.
