For All Who Served In Arms or In Axes! | Reviewer: MetalStorm | 5/13/13
Every Review I have read about this amazing song is heartbreaking to hear how many people relate to this song. My pastor's wife's brother died a week ago in afghanistan he was a soldier a father a brother a husband and a true son of God. I was mad at the devils taking of his death also the taking of Dimebag and Cliff Burton i chose to play this song for there family and this song touched my heart my pastor was not mad at the devil for his evil ways but glad to know that God took him to a better place this song always breaks my heart to hear becuase of the emotion that Zakk put into it wich is rare to hear from a icon of metal. James Hetfield, Dave Mustaine, Jerry Belladona, and Phil Anselmo couldn't even lay a finger in the emotion Zakk puts in this song studio and live. The solo in this song is rolling emotions of happiness, sadness, anger, and gladness to know such a man as Dimebag. The song was dedicated to Dimebag after his death on 12/08/04. Zakk wrote the song exactly 9 months to the day of the death he looked over the lyrics and realized it was Dimes song. Zakk then put the song in his 2005 alublm mafia as the fifth track. The music video symbols life and how it all is unfair it starts with Zakk and Dime riding bikes and it ends with Zakk emerging from a river alone symbolizing Dimes death the song is basiclly describing the bullshit you receive in life from growing up to your best friend dying. The week before the day that Dime was shot Dime asked Zakk to come out to show Zakk the Razorback in the conversation Dime asked Zakk to,"come out here and see this fuckin thing." Zakk quotes this at his show in Oklahoma City when they are playing. If you listen closly to the solo you will here him say,"why why you why you first you were my brother why couldn't we go together instead why do i have to endure life without you my brother,"as quoted by Zakk and the lyrics of the song include the words 'fade to black' basically when Zakk wrote this song Fade to Black by Metallica was his biggest inspiration at the time and both songs have the same meaning.
In this river there is true life | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/22/11
In this river there is true life in Jesus Christ who broke the power over black and shined light into the darkness for those who believe.True life begins when this one ends for those who placed their trust in the Lion of Judah!!

For My Best Friend..One to call A TRUE BROTHER | Reviewer: amanda | 7/6/11
You guys have truly touched me. This song has all the same meaning to me, as to you. My best friend died in a tragic trench collapsing on him. He use to sing this song to me, hoping one day he could be famous, like you guys! He told me that he would want this song played at his funeral. Unfortunately, Im the only one who knew his true wises. He did not get a burial. I am in the military and was unable to tell his family. This song makes me hurt, but feel good at the same time. I know that he is proud of me, like the brother i should have had. He was my best friend of 9 years. I will always remember him. And because of this song, I will always have him near, I know it! Thank you ZAK & BLS.
Whenever you go to the Electric Factory in Philadelphia, PA I will be front row as we always were, just for him!
love you guys!!!!
Thank You For This Beautiful Song!!! | Reviewer: Shearlean | 12/7/10
In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit! And will ALWAYS think of them when their fire goes out!And all we have is a MEMORY which we will all BE SOMEDAY!!! PEACE!!!12-8-04 R.I.P.

I have liked this song since I first heard it several years ago, but it now has a much deeper meaning to me. A very dear friend of mine, who was an avid "outdoors" type and true metal head : ) passed away this past Sunday in a drowning accident in a river that he had spent his life rafting and hiking and this song was played at his service on Saturday....it ripped me apart to look at his casket and think of him while hearing this song play, very ironic I guess. But I just wanted to say that it is an amazing song and wanted to thank Zakk and BLS for putting it out there!
to my brother | Reviewer: carla | 3/13/10
This song remind's me of my brother Earl we lost him on October 20, 2009. He had been missing for many years and we couldn't find him. Unfortunatly the way we did was thru a call from a coroner. He was only 28, checked into a motel and took his life, Mental Illness is truly to blame, God Bless Him and we will alway's remember him in our heart's
love your sis.
For my brother Zak | Reviewer: annabel | 3/11/10
So about a month before my brother zak died(he was 21), he was playing this song to me over and over telling me how much it rocked. he was the lead singer of a rock band and was such a good singer. iv read some of these comments and find it so weird how others relate this song to a lost loved one, especially a brother.. well great song zakk, i cant really listen to this song that often, its way too sad. but to those who've also lost a loved one, im sorry. keep rocking zakk!!
dime will be missed | Reviewer: blue steel | 2/11/10
this song evoked so many raw emotions and thoughts of loved ones ive lost and how feeling those feelings again just rips my heart out of my chest with anguish over their loss but it also gives me a chance to reflect on their lives and the times we had.i think in some way everyone who hears this song can relate and for that i thank you.this is a song that id be honored to have played at my funeral in the small hope that in this song loved ones would remember me the same way i remembered my loved ones

I happened to hear this song playing from a player App add (myspace). It moved me to google the lyrics and read them while he sang. This song was touching on emotions that I had until then, put away. The loss of my brother and favorite Aunt. Then before the end of the song, I thought - I need to hear more from this man who can sing with such raw emotion. Then I started to read the reviews. The song was a tribute to Dimebag. I apologize for not knowing. Clearly he meant as much to you as my own brother and Aunt. So I will say to the writer and singer of this song. "IN THIS RIVER" will be remembered for many reasons because of the emotions it evokes when heard. My deepest sympathies to the family and friend of this obviously loved person.
my new friend | Reviewer: johnnys mom | 12/1/08
Zakk & BLS,
i must say that this is one of my favorite songs. i didnt know of it really until about the 7 of October this year, when my younger son was helping us to find music for his brothers funeral. you see his brother was 18 and left home on the 14th of aug to go to school in Indiana, and then on oct 5th i got a call that he had died...so now whenever i hear 'in this river', well suffice it to say....well the song has a new meaning for me...and once again THANK YOU
to a great person to all | Reviewer: Dewayne | 11/10/08
Zakk I want to thank you for this song. This reminds me of all the late nights I would stay up and listen to Dimebag play his guitar. This song reaches deep inside to show how much he meant to you and everybody else. But it also makes me think of everybody that has lost someone close and special to them as well. I'm very greatfull of this song thanks.
