Review The Song (16)Print the Lyrics

They carved a message deep within our broken hearts that failed to mend:
Make out kids never had a chance to be best friends.

She's into math and magazines,
Director's cuts and gray cell green
Armed with an eye for contradictions,
She sees completely through me.

I'm fond of Twin Peaks afternoons,
Inexpensive wine with cordon bleu..
Armed with a plethora of insecurities,
we keep each other amused..

And we sing:

Hooray for the madness, we are better by design,
Let's hope we'll never have to say goodbye..
Say goodbye.

Snowed in sleep over winter break,
Cocktails and miniature mistakes,
Lights out, we're covered in each others' warm embrace..

And we sing:

Hooray for the madness, we are better by design,
Let's hope we'll never have to say goodbye,
Say goodbye.
[x2]

If we keep swimming, maybe this will never die (never die). <i>[x4]

We fail to keep in touch these days,
I'm liquid cold, she's murder grey,
Hollowed by circumstance that pushed us both away.

They carved a message deep within our broken hearts that failed to mend:
Make out kids never had a chance to be best friends.

Review about Make Out Kids

This if what I think. | Reviewer: Alexina | 8/2/09

Well, I think that it's two different people that are pretty much completely different. As maybe there likes and dislikes...etc. But, even though they're completely different they still connect in some sort of way and have this love for each other. And, I think he's say that it doesn't matter about all that because of the love and he hopes he will never have to say Goodbye because he really likes her. I think they still have fun even though the differencee about them. I also think he's trying to say that if they keep trying hard enough then they can still be together and doesn't matter and if they "keep swimming" as he uses in the song--then his relationship will never die.
Well, this is what I think...probably wrong but, oh well. (:

meaning | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/27/09

My understanding of the song is that two people with the potential to develop a close lasting friendship met and turned the beginnings of a friendship that was forming between them into a "friends with benefits" type thing as long as they keep hanging out and hooking up, they get along great, but as soon as circumstance changes and they're no longer able to hook up, their friendship dies because they never had a chance to fully develop the friends part. They know its bound to happen one day, and they know hooking up is a mistake, but until then they'll just keep going and hope that the day when it ends never comes. Then it comes and reminds them that once you hook up with someone, you'll never be able to be their friend.

I think it means... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/6/09

I think this song means that there were 2 kids who never met and were in a sense on a blind date...I get this from the beginning were Justin (singer) is talking about what each person likes. If you already know the person you wouldn't ask what each other likes, because you already know. Anyway back to the meaning...So they are on a "blind date" and well things spark and they jump steps in a relationship and never truly get to know one another but they develop a "love" for each other. The part "we keep each other amused" would be making out with each other cause thats all they have to like each other on. They dont want to say goodbye because they had fun being with each other but didn't relies that their "love" wasnt real. Then they finally stopped what they were doing and never talked to each other cause what they had truly wasnt real and had nothing to go off of when they stopped cause they were never really friends in the first place.

What I think it means... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/30/08

Two people who have been friends for a while develop an attraction to each other later down the track. They act on that attraction and then it becomes awkward because they had been friends for so long that it partly messed the 'friend' part of the relationship up. They don't really speak or hang out anymore, unless they accidentally bump into each other on some random occasion. That's when they hook up again, This happens every time they get together. They know when they say goodbye after an encounter, it wont happen again or at least it wont happen again for a while. They have a confusing relationship because they cant decide on what they want from each other, a friendship or a relationship. They fear if they start seeing each other that it may mess up the friendship if they break up. So until they decide they are stuck in this confusing and repetitive rut.

i dont know how this song was intended but i know how i see it, and that everyone sees it differently because of their individual experiences, thats what makes people like music i guess, knowing you can relate to it...
but anywhoo the way i feel is its about two friends that fall in love and tried to start a relationship but it couldnt work out for one reason or another so they couldnt really have a chance to be friends again or stay together.
i guess i just see it the way it happened to me..

simply put | Reviewer: jose | 7/27/08

the song is actually quite direct. two young people fell in love with eaze. Their friendship blossomed quickly but was halted by circumstances that probably involved the same insecurities that kept them amused. and although their relationship never fully developed they were still both left with broken hearts

well actually | Reviewer: yasmin | 4/16/08

they wern't in love, they either thought they were, or were fu*k buddies. The start of the song is in present tence, but its about the past, and the chorus is about how they thought that that friendship would never end, and the last part is how everything has changed.

I'm right yeah, (:

I think that this song expresses the feelings of a relationship that took place that both people were deeply inlove, but for some unknown reason it was unable to work out.. and torn each person apart in a different way. It's like they were there for eachother but... they just never had a chance... reminds me of a relationship I'm in.

My point of view | Reviewer: Mikey | 1/5/08

This song is about two people that loved each other, and tried to keep it going, but in the end it just so happens that they're really just complete opposites.

What it really means | Reviewer: antonia | 12/27/07

I think it means that if you are best friends with someone you can't have a dating relationship and get it back to when you were just friends.
