Since the release of their debut album in 1977, 38 Special has created a musical legacy that appeals to many generations. With gold and platinum albums, Top 10 hits, and sold-out stadium tours to their credit, 38 Special has broken the Southern Rock mold and established themselves as a classic American rock-and-roll band. In the 90s, however, traditional rock-and-roll has taken a back seat to such new genres as rap, grunge, alternative, gothic, ska, and industrial. Still, 38 Special, like a chameleon, continually adapts to the diverse musical environment. Second Chance | Reviewer: Kevin Kraft ------ About the song Second Chance performed by 38 Special This has to be my favorite 38 Special song. The mood and vocals of this song are captivating. The lead singer reminds me a bit of Steve Perry. The lyrics are compelling. It's ironic really...I don't sympathize with the fellow singing this song, since he betrayed his woman in the worst way. His pleas don't even sound particularly penitent. His pitiful, "Please forgive memand forget it" is typical of a man who has been weathering under the unyielding contempt of his ex without understanding how deeply he has indeed hurt her. But...a great song indeed. I sing it loud when it comes on the radio--even though I can't really relate to it. But, if I ever were unfaithful to my wife, I would use this song to try and woo her back. Maybe.
