A Perfect Circle Biography
Review The Artist (12)

A Perfect Circle-photo
A Perfect Circle is Maynard James Keenan's musically talented new group, it is not a side project. Tool is not gone for good though, Maynard looks forward to start recording the Tool album after this year's Canadian Somersault tour finishes. Maynard will have 3 weeks off at this point, and he will start to record the next tool album if the other band members are ready. Maynard has been trying to fire the other tool members up in recent interviews, so as to make sure they will be ready when he comes off from tour. FYI: Maynard wears a wig for APC concerts and photo shoots, he is still as bald as ever. As "Recreational Racism", Maynard and others played a series of covers country-style at the Viper Room in LA on August 15, 1999. Later that night, a new band called "A Perfect Circle" played their first public show.

The band was started by Billy Howerdel (maynards ex-roommate) and Paz, and came to feature Maynard only after its inception. They are absolutely phenomenal and may best be described as Tool but ten times better.(ok this was a lie, but I got you to my page, hehe, no band is better than tool, it's scientifically impossible) It's a little more melodic and less dark than Tool but with stronger lyrics and more rythm. The songs are phenomenal and are well worth the wait. I recommend Thinking of You, Rose, and Three Libras, but they are all great.

A Perfect Circle released their first album May 23rd which is a cd in which every track is phenomenal. The first single was released on April 17th and it is called Judith. A Perfect Circle are touring with NIN, and will be touring with the Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins and Eve 6 in this year's somersault tour in canada and The deftones will even guest star in the tour on the Vancouver date.

Review about A Perfect Circle

I Love Maynard | Reviewer: Heather | 7/17/2008

I love APC (and Tool, and i am also enjoying Maynard's new band Pusifer) The music and Maynard's voice are amazing and great for taking any anger or stress I am feeling right away. The language could be better, but it is an amazing artistic expression, and I can live with it.
Quote Wheelie | "God sure would have hated it if you ever listened to an intelligent song that might make you question your surroundings, political views, or enjoy life. Please learn to think for yourself before you judge."
I understand your anger/frustration with people who can not open their minds please be aware that some people have flawed views of the world, you seem to also be one of those people. I am a Christian and have been for the majority of my life and have always been taught that God wants me to question everything and not just to follow blindly, which is why I love Opiate it reminds us to question religion and what we are being taught. Also that God loves (not hates) everyone, not only those who follow him (blindly or not). It would be nice if we all got our facts straight before we made comments that make us look ignorant.

Hiatus | Reviewer: Renholder | 12/16/2007

In an interview with MJK which Revolver magazine published this month APC expressed the intention to reunite in the future bring back some of the most beautiful music you can get your hand on! Sorry Tool fans :p

ı never heard a voice like maynard's,it'not about only voice, lyrics are driving me insane!!!noose......

A Perfect Circle | Reviewer: Lithoniel | 6/9/2007

I love A Perfect Circle so much, my number one favorite band for quite some time. I love how their music is so unique, and definetly not like other bands, but what I especially love is Maynard's voice, he's so good and perfect for the band. My personal favs are Counting Bodies Like Sheep, 3 Libras, and Imagine.

Transcend | Reviewer: Allen | 5/24/2007

APC is one of those bands that just absolutely has the power to knock me into that trance-like state that is accessed by listening to the best of musical works. Their lyrics are as potent and powerful as anything I have ever witnessed.

As for sir Atheist Song, you really need to close your little book and open your own eyes for once. That is what the majority of APC's (and Tool's for that matters) songwork is about.

And Jay: I don't know what you're hearing when you listen to Wings For Marie, but listen to both parts fully. Really listen. If you're thinking it is in essence a rebuttal of Judith, then you're not getting the true message.

"Atheist Song" | Reviewer: Jay | 5/11/2007

"Judith" has little to do with God. It has to do with a person. And, as evidenced by Tool's "Wings for Marie", the opinion put forth in "Judith" is dated; no longer relevant.

And A Perfect Circle is "not that famous" because they are...well...talented. They are not the overly-accessible garbage that constitutes popular music today.

"I love that they got a chick to play bass and she's hot" is the most ignorant statement I've ever laid eyes upon. They didn't "get" Paz to play bass, she co-founded the band (with Billy Howerdel, not Maynard)

eMotive is a step in the wrong direction, and is as far from Tool as can be. It's a useless record of covers and remixes.

Amazing Band | Reviewer: Wheelie | 3/30/2006

Truly an awe-inspiring band. I can't wait for the new Tool CD to see what Maynard can do with what he has learned from APC.

And to the Mr. Anonymous poster, the reason you haven't heard of them is most likely because you only listen to one of the multitude of Christian bands who don't deserve a recording contract. God sure would have hated it if you ever listened to an intelligent song that might make you question your surroundings, political views, or enjoy life. Please learn to think for yourself before you judge.

Maynard is a musical God | Reviewer: Lori | 1/22/2006

I have all Tool and A Perfect Circle cd's and lyrics. I know all songs by heart. There is such deep meaning to them. Most are my favorites. Gravity and eleven are like prayers to me. I will always be first in line to buy any cd's with his name on them. I wish Paz was on all the songs. Her sound is amazing. I could be bordering on obsession. I have had to replace all the cd's at least once.

.... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/6/2005

I dont know whats up with these guys and their atheist song. No wonder they arent that famous

Amazing | Reviewer: S.t.r.o.m | 6/6/2005

Maynards Band A Perfect Cricle is one of the best bands I've ever heared, their lyrics are just as incredible as strong. The Tool influence is present, but in a more melodic way (excepting some song of their last album "eMOTIVe" wich has really dark songs and others are really melodical, like the reversion of Lennon's "Imagine"). At this time, for me, their best album is "13th step", with songs like "Blue" or "The outsider", with great lyrics and simply amazing music. Maybe their change in "eMOTIVe" is influenced by the leave of Paz (she and Maynard founded A Perfect Circle") or maybe not, anyways they're as good as before.

{But yes, Tool is better}

Regards S.t.r.o.m.. :)
