If you were to play word-association with the name 'A-ha',
the response would be normally 'Take On Me'. And so exists
the unfortunate dilemma for Norways biggest musical
export. Morten Harket (lead vocals), Paul Waaktaar-Savoy
(guitar, backing vocals) and Magne Furuholmen (keyboards,
guitar, backing vocals) formed in 1983, moved from their
native country to the UK in search of success and promptly
signed with Warner Brother Records. Three good looking
lads, a catchy band name and hopefully the music to match -
it couldn't fail.

But it so nearly did. Their debut release, 'Take On Me'
(originally titled 'Lesson One'), failed to chart twice.
Only for the persistence of their record company, the band
might have struggled to make the breakthrough. With the
ass More...

        ------ About artist/band A-ha

I was born in 1993 and I grew up listening to A HA. I love this band, and I love their music. My favorite song would have to be Take on Me. The video was absolutely amazing and it amazes me the work it would have taken to create that video.
I may only be a 14 year old freshman at Kingsford HighSchool in michigan, but, A HA is a great band. I love all the oldies. Right now, we are doing a project in US History about different era's. I picked the 80's because tons of good music happened during this era, especially A HA. This Biography is really helping me out on my project, thanks alot.

------ About the song Take On Me performed by A-ha

this song is really the only good song to have come out by a-ha. or, at least the most popular. while i agree the songs annoying, i like to see u hit that note again...and again..and again. also, the videos freakin' awesome

------ About the song Take On Me performed by A-ha

This song was called Lesson One when a-ha recorded a demo of it at Paul Waaktaar-Savoy`s house.I heard Lesson One,and it was absolutely rubbish.
Thank god they remade it as Take On Me.And I absolutely love the video for Take On Me.It shows a girl reading a comic with Morten in it.He comes out of the comic and takes the girl inside with him and starts dancing to the song.Hope you enjoyed my review. This is a-ha is RULEZ and from me,it is goodbye.

------ About the song Take On Me performed by A-ha

When I was 18 this song came out and I just loved it, the song and the video. My friends and I use to listen to it on the way to Pass A Grill beach in Florida. After twenty some years I still get the chills from this song. This band rocks!!!

One of the best of a-ha | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Solace performed by A-ha

best compo of all time..........magne was superb on the keyboards for the last minute or so and mortens got a haunting voice, pity they didnt come out with a video of the song.........solace if released would have been in the top 10 uk for sure. not sure why some brilliant a-ha songs never appear on videos , this way they dont do justice to their talents and dnt market themselves well

One of the best Bond title tracks | Reviewer: Alex
------ About the song The Living Daylights performed by A-ha

    Hmmm
Am i the only one who cherishes the Timothy Dalton Era?
His was an underrated Bond that only now does the franchise seem to be recongizing with their choice of another edgier Bond In Daniel Craig.
In appropriately splashy sleazy opening credits for which the Bond films are famous, A-ha's exilherating, very uh- 80's sounding title track plays, with Morton Harket's distinctive vocals.

There wouldn't ne another male lead song for the Bonds until the recent 'Casino Royale'.

Words are very incorrect! | Reviewer: Taras
------ About the song Turn The Lights Down performed by A-ha

    Words are very incorrect!

There is no "i'm coming home" in first verse.

"turn around the night is still young
realize that things can go wrong" - there should be no "realize that things can go wrong"

    Etc., etc.

    A-Ha - Analogue | Reviewer: Ian Dandridge
------ About the song Analogue performed by A-ha

Perfect piano playing, the change of tempo goes perfectly witht the song. Great lead singing too along with the background singers. 8/10

------ About the song Living A Boy's Adventure Tale performed by A-ha

Living a boy's adventute tale was not a single. At least not in America.
I think this song contains some of the most beautiful lyrics in this first album by A-ha. The music is superb, almost dramatic and the voice

And to Think I'm 13?! | Reviewer: Kit
------ About the song Take On Me performed by A-ha

This is one of A-Ha's more famous songs, am I right? It has good reason to be. I've seen clips of the music video too, and it looks awesome. Sometimes, I think I was born in the wrong generation... because I love th 80s in general.
    Ah well... Life goes on.
    ~~Kit

------ About the song You Are The One performed by A-ha

A HA is one of the groups who never got it's props when they came out. The song you are the one is an upbeat dance song. It is a good song not the best from the group but I will play it many times over and over just because I like the beat of the song. If you don't know A HA give them a listen.

A ha One great group that never got it Props | Reviewer: Steve
        ------ About artist/band A-ha

"A HA" there is so much more to this group then Take on me. The album Hunting High and Low is one that I listen to on a regular basis but that is just one piece of the puzzle. They have had many albums after Hunting but none seemed to have the success, which is to bad. If you have never listened to a ha do yourself a favor give them a try.

A-ha is great. | Reviewer: John
        ------ About artist/band A-ha

Hunting High and Low = One of the best albums in my collection after 20 years. Still listen to it (the CD version) at least about once a week, as it is a permanent fixture in my car's CD player. John (USA)

This song is the best song ever written so don't bag it or i come to you house and slit your neck in your sleep

forever not yours holds strong | Reviewer: kate
------ About the song Forever Not Yours performed by A-ha

What can I say... after a long career of supplying the world with the best quality pop/contemporary music, a-ha have done it again with Forever Not Yours. Beautifully crafted, their broad orchestration coupled with a memorable lick of piano, the soft harmonics of each members' voice and the stark yet touching lyrics make this one stand proud among many of a-ha's best.

As a native of Canada, there is sadly little opportunity to sing the praises of this Norwegian trio but ever since my first taste of Take On Me, I've been hooked. Each album reveals more about the lives and journeys of the bandmates and the fullness of their sound keeps improving with age. I know I've found my sound as they never fail to bring a tear of joy to my eye as each new track is introduced.

I just hope more of you will know the beauty and emotion of Forever Not Yours... try it on for size and don't be surprised if you find yourself bathing in it!
