Review about Abnegation In Flames | Reviewer: Cj | 7/26/09
Listen people. First of all, In Flames, HAS always been about progression. Not regression. Its not called "progressive melodic death metal" for a reason. In order to get "better" one must GROW. Both spiritually and mentally.
There are NOT that many bands that can consistantly produce mind altering music(the almighty Slayer....IS THE ONLY BAND that comes to mind).
While i was not floored by this album, it actually is better technically then say...Reroute,Soundtrack AND, Come Clarity.
By no means am i a music critic. If i was, i would probably piss a majority of you people off.
I end this by stating: In Flames, has done nothing but put out BADASS music, both "heavy metal" and the "melodic" as well.
And if you dont agree with it...pretty much you have been living in a fucking hole. And have shitty taste in music.

get used to change, in flames would be a very boring played if they played the same old stuff over again, even they would get bored of it, this variety is what we need and how music should evolve and teach us to listen to everything and keep us hooked, not keep us to our idealistic ideas of music and past the bounds where we cant appreciate a nice song because it's not typical "in flames"!
Jack, I respectfully disagree. Lyrics worse? No. Music worse? No. They've developed into something even better, if you ask me. Something... one of a kind. You can actually distinguish them from other bands easily now.
...Disco metal? Oh, and so the little respect I had purished. Dumbest thing I've heard.
Have you heard 'March to the Shore', anyway? Listen to it.
The lyrics are much worse than in previous albums, though the message remains still the same I suppose... Music? I don't know what kind of metal (if it's metal by the way...) they play now, but I'm sure it isn't deathmelodic stuff they used to play... After Come Clarity sound, I hoped they were coming back in this death melodic sound, but eventually, they are back with some kind of... disco metal stuff...
In flames I used to trust...
Tribute to Clayman, Whoracle, Jester Race and Lunar Strain, the times they owned, times won't be back anymore apparently..

Upcoming album = Very good | Reviewer: Kevin | 2/17/08
Wow. I already heard 3 songs (abnegation, Disconnected and The mirror's truth) from their upcoming album, A sense of purpose. Fuck, these songs are good, very well played... I just can't fuckin wait til their new album...
IN FLAMES WE TRUST
Alright. | Reviewer: Kevin | 11/28/07
This song is good, but it will surely not be the best one of their new album, coming out in april 2008... I'm always listening to their past albums, and I'm still in search with that old sound (Whoracle, which is my favourite) in their newer albums... I truly miss the older In Flames sound but that won't stop me from buying their albums...

This is a really lightweight track - it clearly hasn't absorbed as much as the previous classics. It doesn't give all the chills it could - perhaps the theme appearing to be climate change and the unavoidable destruction of planet earth in the future. It cannot reach the sludgy pondering questions of "Free fall", which it should, in my opinion.
Simply Amazing. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/22/07
Anders' stunning vocals come through again in this song... top 3 In Flames songs for me. On par with Come Clarity. Does not get much better
