Review | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/7/09 Well, theres obviously heaps of different interpretations as mentioned below, and it can have a different meaning to different people depending on past experiences, opinions and maybe even religion. But the way I see it is that someone has lost his girlfriend for whatever reason (meaning shes died). So the guy misses her to the point where he kills himself to be with her in the "afterlife". Directly after the intro solo and chorus when Shadows is like "Like walking into a dream..." and "A place of hope and no pain..." I think this is coming from the gf/wife/whatever, implying that heaven is such a great place and that he should stay with her. The chorus, however, comes from the dude, saying that he doesn't belong in the afterlife and has a life to live. He says that he doesn't want to leave because of her, but because there are more important things on earth that need to be done before he dies, but at the same time, hopes he can return "when the time is right" - when he's ready to die. The bridge where the Rev sings is also addressing the fact that there are other people on earth that miss him (friends and family). He says that he wants to be the person he truly is and wants another chance to live life and express that personality. The Rev also says that he is almost revolted by all of these good things in heaven and wants to return home, and wants another chance to live. And yer, thats it in a nutshell, I could go on for days about what the song is about and break it down to the last word, but Ive got homework to do atm and strictly speaking, i shouldnt be on this site but meh :P Hope this could bring a bit of understanding to some people though and yerssss.
