He was a very special warm and gentle person
Who put the music in the world and spoke in rhyme
And it hurts me that I never really knew him
‘Cause all it would have taken was some time
You know he always seemed to be there when I stumbled
And when mountains got too steep for me to climb
And it tears me up to think I never touched him
‘Cause all it would have taken was some time
Ain't that just the way that life goes
Down, down, down, down
Movin' way too fast or much too slow
Gettin' up, gettin' high, gettin' down
Gettin' no, no, nowhere
But not gettin' into someone I should know
Gettin' up, gettin' high, gettin' down
Gettin' no, no, nowhere
Gettin' up, gettin' high, gettin' down
Gettin' no, no, nowhere
Now he's in another place and I can't reach him
And I feel as though I'm guilty of a crime
I took all he had to give and gave him nothin'
And all it would have taken was some time
Ain't that just the way that life goes
Down, down, down, down
Movin' way too fast or much too slow
Gettin' up, gettin' high, gettin' down
Gettin' no, no, nowhere
But not gettin' into someone I should know
Gettin' up, gettin' high, gettin' down
Gettin' no, no, nowhere
Gettin' up, gettin' high, gettin' down
Gettin' no, no, nowhere
Gettin' up, gettin' high, gettin' down
Gettin' no, no, nowhere
Gettin' up, gettin' high, gettin' down
Gettin' no, no, nowhere

Ain't that just the way that life goes
Down, down, down, down
Movin' way too fast or much too slow
Gettin' up, gettin' high, gettin' down
Gettin' no, no, nowhere
But not gettin' into someone I should know

Review about Ain't That Just the Way This was a song written for | Reviewer: Niel | 10/12/2007
Barbie Benton, Huge Heffners girlfriend. She recorded it back in the 70:ies and I have a feeling the song was ordered by Huge for his girlfriend Barbie to reflect his ideas of what she felt for him. Right or wrong I will never know!
I believe this song was written for Barbie Benton. She was the girlfriend of Huge Heffner who tried to make her a carrier as a singer. She made a pretty good recording back in the 70:ies. She was not a singer but a darn good locking chick. (I still have the album somewhere. I bought it just because of this song.)I have always thought the song was ordered by Huge for Barbie and should reflect his idea of what he expected her to feel about him.
Is it special for Lutricia? | Reviewer: Marco | 9/10/2007
I heard the song when I was in England in 1998, here in my country (BOLIVIA) nobody knows Lutricia, but I love her!
I've got a question: Do the lyrics talk about some particular person for Lutricia? or maybe for the Author? Is there any story involved?
love it | Reviewer: girll | 7/7/2007
This song is really great, if I heard it once, it says in my head the rest of the day. The lyrics are impressive, I think many people can relate to it. me too; this person is now on the other side of the world.

My opionion on Lutricia mcneal (ain't that just the way) | Reviewer: Heather Malone | 10/10/2006
The first time i ever heard Lutricia Mcneals song, ain't that just the way, i fell in love with the song...i was in boarding school and in grade 8. I searched for a long time to find this song and when i finally did i played in over and over again. It is a beautiful song and i would have to say its a favourite. It also makes me think about people i have lost. Beautiful song.
I heard this song a couple of times years and years ago. I always really liked it, and wanted to learn it. It keeps coming back to me when I think about people I should have spent more time with and are now gone. I looked up the lyrics because I play the guitar and wanted to learn it. It is a gem.
