Swimming the river ascending
Free of fear, filled with purpose
Nishikigoi fights through oceans of adversity
Against the current to obtain the highest goals
Swim through oceans of suffering
Climb to the falls of Dragon Gate
Become
Transform from Koi into a beast
Dragon
A living symbol of courage
No wave will shatter these scales
Dreams of three eagle claws and the paws of a tiger
Waterfall's up ahead, one thing left to do
Swim through oceans of suffering
Climb to the falls of Dragon Gate
Become
Transform from Koi into a beast
Dragon
You'll never stop the becoming, yeah
This dragon will rise and be king
All bear witness to a great form
Evolution is complete
A breath that turns into clouds producing rain or fire
Watch the world move according to each desire
Swim through oceans of suffering 2x
Climb to the falls of Dragon Gate
Become
Transform from Koi into a beast
Dragon

Legend is true ( so they say) | Reviewer: Racah15 | 3/13/2008
I found this on a webiste, its like the EXACT lyrics
"Koi signify strength, success, perseverance in adversity, and strength of purpose. Based on legends, Koi have become a symbol of courage with the ability to attain high goals, worldly aspiration and advancement. Legend has it, there is great waterfall called the Dragon Gate. Its waters plunge more than a hundred feet swifter than an arrow shot by a strong warrior. It is said that a great many Koi gather in the basin below the Dragon Gate, hoping to climb the falls. Any that succeeds will turn into a dragon."
Not a video game. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/15/2008
It's about an old japanese legend that a koi, or nishikigoi, which is a type of fish, that climbed to the top of a waterfall would be rewarded with becoming a dragon. Koi were captured and raised by japanese farmers, and eventually became extremely popular, which is more than likely what led to legends about them coming into play.
Hardly a video game.

best song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/25/2007
This is my favorite song, it is so cool. I was wondering, when he says : "Swim through oceans of suffering", at the begginning I thought it was "Swim through our sins of suffering" i saw that on another site...
Trivium is the best sound in metal right now. Most bands probably feel nervous having a band come out of left field and can pull amazing solos and rythm like they can. I seen them at Family values in Aug. 07 (Houston TX.) They Fucking kicked ass. I would like to give thanks to the band, there music was my escape during my tour in Baghdad. Trivium is with no doubt a true Metal band 100% against the grain american heavy metal. Metallica I am sure would agree, and GOD rest his soul, the late DIMEBAG I would like to think would too. I rock out to Becoming the Dragon several times a day, it is bad to the bone. The entire album is incredible. Thanks Trivium, your fucking bad ass!
another typicly awesome song by trivium! matt heafy is the coolest japanese/american in the world.. and if he isnt. he is definetly the best guitarist :D

Matt made this song because he wanted it to represent the legendary japan tales, because hes half jap so it says on the offical trivium website. Metallica are my favourite band, i love them, and when i heard the lastest trivium album i hated it because it sounded riped off of metallica, but after a few listens i love trivium just as much they are the best metal band to come out of the last few years their music sound so old thrashy in the new album. trivium rock!
maddest! | Reviewer: jackie | 10/14/2007
i think its cool that matt heafy can actually make a song from a legend. And i think its pretty obvious because it has their names like Koi and Nishikigoi LOL. I agree this is probly their best song from this album. it has really good guitar riffs and yea matt heafy is japanese/american
