In love with the maiden, The flower of winter
Lowbrow children, in grove of the inland
How many times heart's gone through the grinder
wherever you look there's a painful reminder
Singing a love song, words of a stranger
The howling miller, never to face her
Temple of the evil, Temple of the weak
no one knows how bad he feels
Late-night innuendo, temptation of the key
"Live with the Blacksheep, live with me"
Insanity, blessing for those born to hate you
Burned by the embers of love, it is so cruel
Howling the night, for sun of the midnight
Serving the people, condemned you in the eternal night
of the lost song, words of the stranger
The howling miller, never to face her
Temple of the evil, temple of the weak
No one knows how bad he feels
Late-night innuendo, temptation of the key
Live with the Black Sheep, live with me!
Temple of the evil, temple of the weak
No one knows how bad he feels
Late-night innuendo, temptation of the key
Live with the Black Sheep, live with me!
Temple of the evil, temple of the weak
No one knows how bad he feels
Late-night innuendo, temptation of the key
Live with the Black Sheep, live with me!

Review about Black Sheep Just Great | Reviewer: Tepo | 3/25/09
another great hit of sonata indeed, and I really like the way you analize the lyrics, i've been looking for any forum or web where ppl analyze this songs 'cause i think some of they are really well thinked and have lots of meanings that i would love to discover and understandm anyway I think that when he says " burned by the embers of love, it is so cruel" actually he is expressing his deep sadness cause he loves her really much but he cannot be with her, "that's so cruel", well that's it, i agree with the rest of your interpetations i think, gl and sonata > all!(in power metal) ~

I think this "black sheep" here means that this guy is a werewolf (yea just like in fullmoon)
"Singing a love song, words of a stranger
The howling miller, never to face her"
well, the howling miller is the heart of the man (so it means he is in love with her), I think, and the man cant tell his feelings to her or cant meet her or the man doesnt want to hurt the woman becouse he knows they cant be together (you know, he is a werewolf)
"Temple of the evil, temple of the weak
No one knows how bad he feels
Late-night innuendo, temptation of the key
Live with the Black Sheep, live with me!"
I think that "temple of the evil" is a werewolf or the beast living inside of him, and the "temple of the weak" means something like the weakness of the guy or the weakness of his body, that it cannot resist the beast coming out/becoming werewolf.... or "temple of the weak" can also mean love.... OR the temple of the evil is the moon, and the temple of the weak is the guy
" no one knows how bad he feels", well he is in love but cant be with her, so he is not feeling very well, and also he is a werewolf, probably the main reason why cant be with her
"late-night innuendo, temptation of the key", I think this one is like that the "late-night innuendo" is just a day what is becoming a night, so its like a hint to the guy that THE BEAST IS COMING, and the temptation of the key, well I think thats something like the temptation of the moon, or something like that
"live with the black sheep, live with me", okay this maybe means that... if youre gonna live with that guy you gotta live with the beast too.... sorry I dont have better ideas for that
"Insanity, blessing for those born to hate you
Burned by the embers of love, it is so cruel
Howling the night, for sun of the midnight
Serving the people, condemned you in the eternal night"
" burned by the embers of love, it is so cruel", he fell in love or his heart is broken or something, I dont know
"howling the night, for sun of the midnight"
well he is the beast/werewolf howling for moon
okay those are just my stupid thoughts
Love 'em | Reviewer: Brad | 10/2/08
I've followed Sonata Arctica since 1999, and if you love this band. I suggest investing some of your time into looking at bands like Kamelot, and Dark Moor. There are so many power metal bands out there, broaden your horizons. =) You won't be disappointed.
Awesome Song | Reviewer: Gopher | 11/25/07
Saw the band libe a couple of weeks back and they started the sone with "We're not Iron Maiden..." Which was fab with them playing in England and all at the time ^_^
Very nice song. These lyrics are only right for the tokio live version, as the cd version doesnt start with
"We're not Iron Maiden, and we're not from England
We are Sonata, and we come from Finland"
but
"In love with the maiden, The flower of winter
Lowbrow children, in grove of the inland"
@Trini
Note that most of the solo's aren't actually done on the guitar, but on keyboard

It's not very often that one hears a song that begins with such engery, fortunately, the energy lasts until the very end. Quite a good song, I suggest buying all Sonata Arctica albums which have this song (The End of This Chapter, Silence, Songs of Silence, Orientation.
Sorry, I'm out of creative words of praise for this song right now.
But I love it all the same.
I especially like that part of the solo where it sort of, you know, suddenly descend many octaves or whatever the **** theyre called =P right after a crazy, sharp part...ugh I can't describe it. Just know its towards the end of the solo. Damn.
And the lyrics are awesome as well.
Yah. Tonight everything's awesome.
Back to the song it's one of my favorites now and Tony's voice is awesome and Jani's guitar is awesome too (especially that part of the solo) and well, as you can tell from the title, the song is awesome too.
I'm not drunk.
I think.
