Blodravn Biography
Hometown: Gilmer, TX
Genres: Metal / Blackened Folk / Viking Metal
Label: Hunter's Moon Records
Members: Anthony Riddle
Blodravn, created in late 2010, is the one-man Folk/Viking metal project of Anthony Riddle.
It has heavy folk influence as well as influence from bands such as Falkenbach, Amon Amarth, Tyr, Eluveitie, and Shaman/Korpiklaani.
The lyrics are based off of Ásatrú beliefs and tales set in the Viking Age and a few are taken from the Poetic Edda as well.
Formerly known as "Kryptik", Blodravn began recording in the spring of 2011 and had to be put on hold because of lack of good equipment. Then midsummer came and recording began once more and the debut album "Words of the High One" was completed in August. A release date has yet to be announced.
The vocals are mainly in two styles: Clean & black metal screams, though very low guttural vocals may be heard occasionally.
Most of the songs have an uplifting, adventurous feel about them, but some segments are angry/sad as well.
