The rise of Cleveland's Bone Thugs-N-Harmony is a classic
example of the American Dream, a group of five young
"brothas" who had a goal and would not allow any barriers
to stop from attaining this goal. Layzie Bone, Krayzie
Bone, Wish Bone, Flesh-N-Bone and Bizzy Bone went from
being broke, hungry and homeless in 1993 to watching their
brand of flowing, rolling, rapid-clip, harmonized rap --
dubbed the "Cleveland Sound" -- hit the top of the charts.
In November 1993, they bought one-way Greyhound tickets to
Los Angeles determined to prove their talents to their
favorite rapper, the late Eric "Eazy-E" Wright of N.W.A.
fame. They spent months living on the street, constantly
trying to contact Eazy-E, until they finally received a
call from him. They rapped for him More...

------ About the song 1st Of Tha Month performed by Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
Fucking idiots. The song is about the first of the month, You'd think it'd say "Too lazy to go to work, so I get food stamps because I'm a *"racist word"*" "right? Instead, it's about smoking weed and drinking and very few lines about food stamps. No shocker, though. Fucking lazy blacks. You're welcome for buying you groceries.

This song bout their lifes. The thugz write their music straight from the heart non like the other fake ass rapers. I no wat they mean cause i live a very similar life. Wake up on da first, ur stamps. I smoke n b sellin da dope. For the drinkin part im not a drinker much, itz my choice. But i got so much respect for the thugz. N yes they ARE the best rap group. No other raper or group putz down a smoother flow then these niggaz. But their song shoot em up is their best, to me.

Yo Bone Thugs N Harmony is the greatest rap group to ever touch the mic. I love there music because they take me to a whole nother realm. They tought me a lot and they think similarly to how i think. It was always cool to grow up through the troubles of the hood and know that at least these nighaz(bone) had the same mentality as I did. true story- Im a rap artist and I talked to Layzie Bone on the phone one day (long story). He invited me to come to a show in L.A. and we was gone kick it back stage and shit. They wanted to check out my flow. But I got arrested the night before and I missed that op. But anyway, fuckit. Ima get to work with em one day. I just hope that it's soon cuz life dont last long.

these guys are the most talented group of "rappers" out there. its so smooth and harmonious. And no, i dont appreciate people spending my tax dollars on crack, but whether this song was out or not, it would still happen- hence Mr. 2Pac says- "its just the way it is". But it is an awsome song, I dont care what its about.

This song is just a slice of life. Don't judge it for the stereotypes you think it promotes. Take it for what it is. If you can't understand this way of life, then don't listen.
This lifestyle isn't just "how niggas be livin". People of all races that have lesser income do this kind of stuff on "tha first". White trash in Colorado may talk differently than niggas in Atlanta, but it's all the same.
I used to listen to this song almost every time I'd blaze or when I'd hop in my car to get some yay. It's that kind of song.

I find it hard that this group is not so famous coz their music is damn gud and their style is different from other artists and the fact that they always lose their key members but they are able to mentain their standard makes them the best group in the world.

I'm a white boy, I go to college and I work a finance internship during the summers. But every month on the First I listen to this song all day and I think about how great it is to get paid and blow your money on useless shit. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I like how the skinhead Reality Check leverages this song -and probably everything else- to vocalize his racist propaganda. Haters are gonna hate.
Analyze the lyrics all you want, there's no ambiguity. It's quite clear they're celebrating The First, with all the government skrilla rolling in and the giddy anticipation of hooking up with weed, coke, 40s and bitches.
It's a fucking great song, and art. Like all art, it should be appreciated for what it is: a song. Chill, smoke a bowl, bob your head, donkey punch your ho, whatever. Valuing a song based on its lyrics is like dissing a painting because of its frame. Just enjoy it without fretting over their situation.

I wouldnt expect any of you rich, consumerist, slave-to-society people to understand a song like this. They are rapping about their teenage years before they finally took the risk and went to LA to meet Eazy E, their lifelong dream. They used to live off the welfare like every other "citizen" in cleveland. But i wont say anymore cos people like you dont understand. AT ALL

------ About artist/band Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
bone thugs have been my favorite rap group since i was 16. from their style to their message, they've always delivered more than typical albums/radio singles. they've never been concerned with anything but being true to themselves and i think anyone can sense that. it's never been a front with them and thats why they are well respected. i still listen to the art of war EVERYDAY!!! CLASSIC ALBUM! (their best in my opinion). i've grown to respect their solo albums but theres nothing like listening to the five of them...even Wish! (why do people hate on him so, wish is the heart of bone). i'm looking forward to uni5 and i hope they deliver more harmony on this album. i think alot of fans miss the harmony...that's what made us listen to them none stop in '94. bottom line: there will never be another rap group like them in our time or maybe ever!
These eternal Trues. Humbly. United. Gathering. Souls are concernd abt tha Ormaggeddon. They'r tha 1st rappers ta release my spirit n took it ta tha future n witnesd tha end of days. I truly love their lyrical content, its odd n effectve ta tha subconcious mind. E.1999 is tha real thang. Krayzie Bone inspires me. He lyk tha God of Bone. Thumbs up fo Bone thugs. Those E.1999 five souljahs rock n their Souls r Eternal. Peace. (South Africa.)
oh my gosh i am like in love with the bone thugs and i'll do anything to meet them. anything in the world. i cant tell you how much i love them ahhh. im like screami8ng right now. i love you guys sooooooooo much with a capital L.O.V.E
well where to start? bone thugs, i first heard about them back in 1999. wish i heard of them sooner but dad wasnt entirely into that kinda stuff. anyways, E. 1999 Eternal, was the first album i heard and my brothers and i were emmediately fans of the bone thugs and are still. whenever i hear a bone thug track i tend to reminice about the good days when i didnt need to worry about the rest of the afternoon. it makes me wish i could go back to those days. yeah, always the bone thugs were playing on our stereo whenever we chilled out and they got the right flow for that kind of thing too. when i hear their style and rhymes it sounds like its still new and fresh and i think its because hardly any other artist do how "they" do. naw mean? bizzy is the man on that song 'body rot' - wish was cool on 'cross roads' and on krazie's solo album (thug mentality), 'heated heavy' he was FULL-ON! flesh was wicked whenever i hear him because his voice was like wispers in alot of the tracks he was in and he about as fast as fast can get! layzie is unrivalled in his way and when he teamed with Twista in 'midwest invasion' he smacked other rappers down 6 feet under.
they are all way too cool and glad they are still going even though production is a little slow right now. i always keep an eye out for any of them bone boys for new tracks because they gave me peace in times of crap and im just straight-up addicted to them!
peace and peaceout. go hard. bone bone bone bone bone.

I wish these young AA gentleman wouldn't squander their talent. Unlike a lot of "Gangsta Rappers", these guys have good vocal harmony skills, and are obviously influenced by either religious or positive secular R'n'B performers. But why sing about the pieces of shit that sell hard drugs to people who are wasting their SSI/SSDI benefits? They're glorifying the sale of crack and heroin to people who are already disabled and who should be using this money for rent and food. Pieces of SHIT!!!

------ About the song 1st Of Tha Month performed by Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
Umm...actually it is about using welfare checks to buy weed and 40s. I work with gangstas and drug addicts. Trust me. They'll be glad to tell you the same thing. When the welfare check comes, they have money to get high without having to hustle for it. For those who slang it they get to buy a bigger supply off that. Seriously, thinking like in this song is why the ghetto will stay ghetto and none of them will get ahead in life.
