Boxcar Racer was a side-band created by Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker of blink-182. While blink took a break in 2002, DeLonge formed Boxcar Racer to experiment with and record ideas he felt did not fit in with blink's sound. Taking Travis Barker from blink-182 and David Kennedy (currently in the band Hazen Street) they recorded their eponymous and only album Box Car Racer in 2002. On the album Tom did all the bass work, but in live shows Anthony Celestino took over bass duties. Guesting on the album were Mark Hoppus from blink-182, Tim Armstrong from Rancid and Jordan Pundik from New Found Glory. Tom and Travis claim the band were heavily influenced by Dischord Emo, citing influences such as Rites of Spring, Fugazi and later era post hardcore bands such as Quick More... I wouldn't say as good as Blink 182, but they play completely different music. I love Tom DeLonge's voice, it brings a nice sweetness to the music. Boxcar Racer gets a perfect 10 for the creativity but I don't think I would have given it this good of a score if it wasn't for Tom DeLonge. Awsum | Reviewer: Anonymous ------ About the song Sorrow performed by Box Car Racer i love the band boxcar racer, they are exactly like blink 182, with out mark, its awsum i love their msuic, and their liyrics its so touching and some of their lyrics can relate so much to my own life, and im sure others to. they are my favourite baand besides blink-=182 but their practically the same thing. i think tom and travis are the hottest people ever. but i think tom is hotter by a million. me and my friend are absolutly obsesed with him. i love their cd ( blink-182) but i dont have boxcar racer's but i have almost all of their songs down loaded onto my computer because i just love to hear them sing, i noticed that practically all of their songs start out with an instrument they dont sing at the very beginnign of any of their songs, its AT LEAST 5 seconds intro of drums, or electric guitar, bass or any thing, but no sining. theres just some thign about tom's voice that i cant get over, i just love the way he sings. my favourite part when he sings is the part in the song : there is, by boxcar racer when he says: "There Will Be A Hidden Message About A BOY THAT LOVES A GIRL" The parts that are caps locked are the parts that i loved the most, he just says it so sexy. lmao, i love him and every thing about him.
